So amongst other items, I try to collect issues of Gormiti Magazine. There are some nice freebies like exclusive repaints (usually Energheia sculpts in Mythos colors...) but the text and comics inside shed some light on the stories behind the characters.

For me, I like Gormiti as toys first and foremost, but I am curious about the fiction behind them.

My Italian is pretty much non-existent, but I was able to figure out enough to realize that the history of the Air Tribe/People of the Air is pretty interesting!

It seems initially that under Noctis, they were just one of the "Good" tribes, aligned with the Old Sage. However, in Series 2, Elios makes an alliance with Magor for more power, leading to their transformation into the Atomic Versions, but allying them with the side of Evil. Devilfenix apparently is outright evil and on the side of Magor. Thus by the time we come to Final Evolution, we have Noctis leading the original good Air Tribe against the evil Devilfenix and his faction which are transformed into the People of the Fossils.

From what I can tell, all the other tribes stay consistently either good or evil, and the Air Tribe alone has this interesting internal battle!

Ive taken an interest in the fiction that supports Gormiti as well. I was curious as to how , if at all, the new series (cartoon series) connects to the previous animation/series of figures. Nick's figure strikes me as if he was patterned after Gheos (which isnt a bad thing). Does that remove Gheos from the mythos? The language barrier quells the desire to find out more some what.

Thats an interesting internal conflict youve highlighted. It makes me wonder if the story designers were infusing a bit of Biblical history into the story.

I was wondering about that. I never read Helios's card, but I noticed that Devilfenix and his buddies are evil (Look at Crudelion - i.e. Evil the Cruel). I DID notice that the Series 3 Forest Tribe has some evil creatures, like Paludis.

I don't think Paludis looks evil. More like the Forest Tribe (and probably the others) being stuck in a game of one-upmanship and having to rely on increasingly more savage means to attack the bad guys and defend home.

I was really wondering about the story on the Air Tribe and how and why they seemed to become evil though. I didn't realize Helios was the turning point for the faction though. He looked so noble and righteous, I figured there wasn't any betrayal until Devilfenix showed up.

What's the in-story explanation for the multiple Lords, by the way? Do these new characters just keep popping up and take command, and do they replace the previous Lords as the true leaders, or do they co-lead? From the Final Evolution bit about Noctis and Devilfenix, clearly they are around at the same time.

As far as I can tell, Paludis is actually evil - his card even mentions Magor in it.

And good question about the bosses. Note that the toyline seems to have two continuities - Series 1-Final Evolution, and Cartoon-Onward.

Oh, you were going by the card itself! In that case, I'll have to plead ignorance. But I do want to take a look at his bio on the Italian Gormiti site when I'm not sleepy, because I'm quite curious about it now.

I don't know Italian, so I was using Babelfish. This is enough for me to get "the general idea" of one, while still maintianing a bunch of "huh?" questions.

But yeah, Paludis doesn't seem like a good guy.

I didn't realize Helios was the turning point for the faction though.

Helios seems evil enough. He's obviously some sort of Vulture-Man hybrid and we all know that vultures are always depicted as manipulative evil guys in most cartoons.

What's the in-story explanation for the multiple Lords, by the way? Do these new characters just keep popping up and take command, and do they replace the previous Lords as the true leaders, or do they co-lead?

The second batch of lords actually werent really "Lords". Basically the Series 2 story revolves around a tournament where each tribe has to choose a "Champion" to compete. The tribe of the winning champion would then rule over Gorm. At the end of the tournament, Profound Horror cheats and all the other champions gang up on him (Poor outnumbered Volcano tribe). This results in all the tribes working together again against the Volcanic guys INEXPLICABLY ending the "Hypnotic-Lets-All-Fight" spell of Magor.

There is no indication however that the first series lords have been replaced by the champions as leaders.

When the Series 2 and Series 3 repaints begin. Helios suddenly turns evil and shakes hands with Profound Horror aptly changing his color scheme in the process. I think by this time the Champions have now taken up the Lord position. Apparently, the newly Lord-ified Series 2 big-figs lack the balls to fight back the STILL OUTNUMBERED Air and Volcano tribes and they proceed to gather around in sorrow, hugging each other while crying (this is true, watch the video). Old Sage realizes that the current batch of lords have become wusses and sends tougher lords to help them. Thus the introduction of the Series 3 Lords.

The thing I dont understand is how the Series 1 Lords came back. Theres just this 1 scene in a video before Final Evo where Old Sage talks some italian gibberish and it seems like he's praising the Series 1 Lords. Did he bring them back to life? Did they even die in the first place? Did they just become really lazy during all the crap going on in the previous 2 series?

Hey Guys!!!

Thanks Professor for filling in some more gaps!!!

Here's what I've been able to figure out based on a incomplete set of the magazines! I've done my best to figure out the story with a bit of translation here are there thanks to Google and lots of guesswork based on the pictures.

Issue 2: The Origins of the Myth (Part 2) - Basically covers part of the US/UK Orgin story: Old sage creates the good tribes, Magor the Volcano tribes, Magor confuses the good tribes into fighting amongst themselves.

Issue 5: The Great Deception (Part 1) - Elios makes an alliance with Magor for more power, and as a show of his faith he attacks and injures Carrapax. He is rewarded by Magor with the power that transforms his Tribe into their Atomic Versions.

Issue 6: The Great Deception (Part 2) - Kollosus confronts Elios, asking him why the betrayal, and Elios seems to give some explanation about the Old Sage being weak, needing power etc. Kollosus ventures into the Cavern of Roscamar in search of power and confronts Roscalion, the ancient guardian of Earth Power (apparently the "mounts" aren't dumb beasts but wise guardians of their tribe.) Roscalion tests Kollosus and as they battle he finally falls into a deep cavern filled with green crystals which transform he and his tribe into their Atomic Versions. The issue ends with Carrapax heading deep into the ocean to confront Tentaclion...

Issue 8: The Final Eclipse (Part 1)
- Earth, Forest and Sea Lords and their tribes have all transformed into their Atomic versions, and make an alliance to search for the Old Sage, who is missing. They are attacked by the Air and Volcano tribes but escape. Elios sends Hawk the Silent to spy on them and they find a magic pool/well which seems to hold the power of the Old Sage...

Issue 9: The Final Eclipse (Part 2) - Under the direction of Deepdownfear, Magic Crow unleashes a storm of fireballs across gorm. Hawk the Silent confronts the good lords and attacks them but is repulsed and they free the Light of Hope which fills the sky and brings the Old Sage out of hiding. The issue ends with him sending the ball of light filled with the power of Truth into the sky, saying "Save Gorm!" The Evil lords observe the lights and wonder what it is...

(some where during Issues 10 and 11 The Series 2 Lords disappear and the Series 3 Lords and the Light and Dark Tribes appear)

Issue 12: Attack on Gorm (Part 1)
- In the skies above Gorm, Il Sommo Luminescente and Obscurio battle. L'Antico Thorg, Nobilmantis and Grandalbero and their tribes battle on the ground below. The battle is even until the Old Sage communicates with Il Sommo Luminescente telling him to channel the Light into the good Lords. The good Lords and their tribes are transformed into their Mythos forms. The issue ends as Magor rises up and promises the evil Lords more power...

Issue 14: The Battle of the Giants (Part 1) - Once again Il Sommo Luminescente and Obscurio are battling above Gorm. Below Armageddon battles Nobilmantis, while L'Antico Thorg and Grandalbero fight Devilfenix. Deep in a cavern, the Old Sage summons the power of Nature to ressurect Noctis, Poivrons, Gheos and Tasarau! He then summons Roscalion, Tentaclion, Luxalion and Troncalion to go to the aid of their tribes. The beasts attack the evil lords and the issue ends with the evil Lords seemingly beaten and begging Magor for aid...

Issue 15: The Battle of the Giants (Part 2) - Magor summons the evil beasts to the aid of his Lords, and Drakkon, Cerberion and Fenision attack resulting in a battle of the beasts! Magor finds and attacks the Old Sage directly, but the Old Sage repulses his attack and sends a message to Il Sommo Luminescente. The Lord of Light then focuses all the power of Light into a orb called the Eye of Life and sends it into the skies. Il Sommo Luminescente falls, his power spent. The issue ends with the Eye of Life hurtling away from Gorm through space...

Issue 16: Final Evolution (Part 1)
- The Eye of Life travels through space absorbing the power of the Sun and Moon, increasing in power. Meanwhile on Gorm, The Lords of Light and Dark continue to battle. The Eye of Life falls back toward Gorm and as it passes transforms the Lords of Light and Dark into the Lords of Sun and Moon! Devilfenix is caught in the flames as the Eye of Life nears the surface of Gorm and his body explodes, leaving him reborn as the skeletal Lord of Fossils. Devilfenix and the transformed Armageddon, now Lord of Metal attack Il Sommo Luminescente, who is rescued by the newly transformed Lord of Diamond, L'Antico Thorg. Across Gorm the power of the Eye of Life sends out Neozon energy to each tribe, creating the Tribes of Burning Forest, Ice, Diamond, and Sun. The Neozon energy also transforms the newly resurrected Gheos, Noctis, Tasarau and Poivrons into their Final Evolution forms. But not knowing good or evil, the Neozon energy also transforms the Tribes of Moon, Metal and Volcano... Finally the Eye of Life is split into 4 orbs, one for each of the original tribes, in possession of each of the original Lords.

Issue 17: Final Evolution (Part 2) - The Lords of Metal and Volcano ambush Noctis and Tasarau, on their way to meet the rest of the good Lords in a deep undersea cavern. Gheos, L'Antico Thorg and Poivrons await their arrival. Tasarau escapes carrying the injured Noctis, and is attacked by Drakkon. Badly pressed, Tasarau is saved when Roscalion and Troncalion arrive to chase off Drakkon... The Evil Lords are assembled by Magor, while the good Lords finally collect together the 4 parts of the Eye of Life, safely in the undersea cavern. The Evil Lords attack and Il Sommo Luminescente and Nobilmantis attempt to delay them. Obscurio attacks and is knocked to the earth and trapped by Grandalbero, while Devilfenix is attacked by Tentaclion and Poivrons. The battle rages with no clear winner...

Issue 18: Final Evolution (Part 3) - Magor and his evil Lords focus their power and create a Dimensional Vortex out of Neozon energy that threatens to consume the entire world of Gorm... Nobilmantis and Il Sommon Luminescente blast the vortex to no avail, as the Vortex explodes... All the Lords engaged in battle are sucked into the Vortex. Deep in undersea cavern, Noctis remains guarding the 4 Orbs of the Orb of Life. Soon the Vortex reaches the cavern and the 4 Orbs are drawn to the vortex. Noctis follows them as Magor sees his chance to get the 4 Orbs and heads towards the Vortex... Noctis is unable to get the 4 Orbs as he is seized by Magor who is about to triumph and obtain the 4 Orbs. At the last moment, the Old Sage appears, and takes the 4 Orbs, banishing Magor into a timeless dimensional prison... Il Sommo Luminescente and Noctis, the last of the Lords ask the Old Sage what will become of Gorm as they are sucked into the Vortex. The Sage tells them not to worry, he will place the 4 parts of the Orb of Life in a save dimension while Roscalion, Tentaclion and Troncalion protect Gorm... The Old Sage leaves saying "Believe in Me! The Island of Gorm will never die...!" Cut to a peaceful world in another dimension filled with dinosaurs! The Sage takes the 4 Orbs into a cave that holds an egg. The walls have carvings telling of the next generation of the Defenders of Gorm. There's the images of a small dinosaur who will be custodian, 4 children who will fight the power of evil and the newLords they will become (Cartoon Series Lords.) The Old Sage then says his job is done and becomes a flash of energy that is absorbed by the carvings...

Issue 19: A New Beginning (part 1)
- The egg hatches and a small crested dinosaur emerges. He grows, all the while guarding the 4 Orbs of Life. His name is Razzle and the power of the Orbs grant him immortality that he may complete his destiny. He travels the earth and observes some children playing by the Great Pyramids of Egypt, but they are not the children he seeks. Meanwhile, back on Gorm, the now Lordless good tribes re-build their world. We see Trunk Cannon, Sporius, Mimeticus and Lethal Whip build a mighty fortress for the Forest Tribe under the watchful eye of Troncalion... Meanwhile Hawk the Silent, The Magic Lookout, Solitary Eagle and Dragon patrol the Peak of the Eagle along with the now good Fenision. Back on Earth and thousands of years later, Razzle continues his search for the 4 children destined to save Gorm passing through the world of the ancient Incas... Back on Gorm Tentaclion watches as Tartantica, Hammer the Predator, Delos and Cavarex rebuild the undersea realm. The people of the Earth meanwhile have their mighty new Fortress of Rock. Steelback is seen. As the issue ends we see Razzle looking determined, holding the fate of Gorm in his paws...

Issue 20: A New Beginning (part 2) - It issue opens with Cavarex, Sporius, Steelback and Hawk the Silent observing the great Volcano. Though Magor is gone, the Volcano tribe still has 3 of it's Lords! Lavion, Magmion and Deepdownfear and their minions are as powerful as ever! Magic Lookout comes upon Sporius watching the Volcano and accuses him of not staying in his territory... It seems without Lords the good Tribes have retreated to their respective realms and distrust each other! Sporius attacks the Magic Lookout, who retreats. Back on Earth Razzle has yet to find the Children he seeks and has made his way to what appears to be ancient Greece. He continues on his quest eventually stowing away on a great ship... Back on Gorm the situation continues to deteriorate. Steelback throws Delos over a cliff into the sea, telling him to say off the rocks. But Delos grabs Steelback as he falls and pulls him into the sea! Down below, Steelback is surrounded by the Sea Tribe, who threaten him... (Steelback is incorrectly called Stonethrower by Delos). Only Tartantica warns that violence is not the answer and that the Spirit of Gorm has not abandoned them and will soon return... Back on Earth, Razzle has made it to present day and emerges from a sewer into a city... Along the way he befriends a stray cat. Finally Razzle finds a house and looking through the window he sees 2 brothers (Nick and Toby) asleep. They are 2 of the children in his vision and his quest is almost complete!

And that's all I have so far!!!

Hopefully this answers a few questions... I don't presume to say this is 100% accurate but it does give some details of the story behind our favorite toyline!

So, any idea what happened in the interim between 2 and 3?

Vultures are carrion fowl that preform an essential and disgusting act of nature I prefer to see them as neutral : ) (Just being a smart ass, How would you like your role in life to be to eat rotting dead things ewww,) So there alignment really depends on your particular point of view.

That clears up how the 2 series are connected. Now i wonder if any of the vids (CGI) detail Razzles experiences or if thats outlined in the magazines only....?

Razzle only appears in the Gormiti Cartoon Series I believe. The CGI vids are only up to Final Evo, thus pre-Cartoon. Thats why the chapters involving Razzle are aptly titled "New Beginning".

I prefer the pre-cartoon series though. The kids transforming into lords bit irks me somewhat. I guess the new story format appeals to the younger generation more. The old mythos was just a screwed up hodge podge of ideas, essentially making it a true LRG line because you can feel how f'ed up everything is :joecool:

Of course there would be appeal for the Cartoon series among kids, what with children actually getting to be able to become the Gormiti Lords. And having a dinosaur mascot/guardian, heh.

The ton of story info you provided is greatly appreciated, SpyMagician! So many more things make sense now - except the transition from one set of Lords to the next, since you're missing issues - and some of it explains stuff I've actually seen already, like the scene where all of the Lords are sucked into that vortex in the CG cartoon (it was part of an introductory video to the Cartoon stuff on the Italian site). If, as the series continues in the US, we were able to get these stories in comic form. that would be perfect, and a great motivator to buy the US starter if it meant more of them.

As for Helios/Elios, he didn't look like a vulture at all to me, from the images I've seen. Just another generic bird-man with no particular connection to evil. In fact, the giant wings made me think he was being portrayed as a noble eagle or something, not a vulture.

To follow up on this id definitely support that view as the faction champions are seen having a pre-battle conversation with the faction "lords". All except Il Sommo Luminescente (say that 5x fast :joecool:) who doesnt have a faction champion or a 2nd in command as i presume the champion status is.

Hy. I'm italian. I try to translate the Helios card from italian to english.

English:
Helios (Series 2) - Mighty and elegant! When he flies, he can glom the sky with his wings! He's so royal in moves and wise in his soul, he's unstoppable in battle! From the high of skies, he goes down fastly beating enemies with his powerful claws and his unbreakable beak!

Italian:
Elios (Atomic Series) - Il grande traditore!

English:
Helios (Atomic Series) - The great traitor! By the day of the treacery, everybody is afraid to look at the sky and see the sun covered by his big wings! Alliance with Magor has awake in him his dark side! His ancient nobilty is become in full arrogance and frailty... Helios, his flight is so high like his evilness!

Hey Guys!

Glad you all enjoyed my attempt at summaries!!!

I agree the biggest question is still about how the new Lords appear and how the transfer of power works... Honestly, it almost feels like they did toys first, and figured "we need new characters!" and just tried to write the fiction around it after!

I have to say I have mixed feelings about the Cartoon origins. I see the appeal for kids, but the kids turned superbeings have never been my favorite character archetypes...

All this however, really underscores how much help it would be if more of the Gormiti toys in the US had pack in comics. Heck, the stories and art are already there, all it would take is some translation...

Personally, I think if they did MOTU style mini-comic size versions of the Magazine comics packed in with the 4 packs and not just the much higher priced starter, that would be a great help!

I do have to say though, that even without any real entertainment Gormiti is selling better in my area than I dared hope!

If I get any more magazines, I'll be sure to post more summaries!

i really hope they launch something else along with the toys and soon if we are to see more series released outside of Italy. I can only imagine that the whole kids turning into lords thing was probably due to the success of Ben10, doesn't he turn into the monsters or something? So i can understand why they would approach it in that way but i suppose it could really eff up the character continuity.

I have to admit, aside from the amusing translations i have read on the cards i have very little knowledge of the story or what not. Shouldnt they make mini toys of the good and the bad god characters, Old sage and Magos?

Hey Guys,

So I discovered that the Spanish Gormiti site has a few of the comics online!

It's only part of the Origin and Grand Eclipse, but you can view them in a flash player or as PDFs.

For anyone who has yet to see any comics, it's a nice look at a few issues.

The old Italian site also has the entire storyline up to Energheia in a flash player/reader.

Sadly, since you can't cut and paste the text, translating it would take a LOT of re-typing! LOL!
