They provide access to a persons:

Address
email
and usually, phone number.

People really are a lot more transparent on the internet than they may think... and most rip-offs really aren't that bright...

With this guy, I don't personally think he was "trying" to rip you off, he just seems like a complete and total MORON from start to finish. Ordered something that he knew nothing about and then returned it on your dime. Packaged it so poorly, he destroyed it on the way back... and even kept the freebies. A total douche. And Evilbay totally backed him up 100% and made you the victim of his douchery. In the end though, I know it will cost HIM and evilbay a whole HELL of a lot more money than they cheated you out of... for whatever that's worth.

Anyways don't let it ruin your Christmas. He'll get his if he hasn't already...
