I have a very complicated love/hate relationship with far cry.
yikes, sounds like it.
I see what you're saying about the similarities, but maybe that's why I enjoyed both of them so much. I think they did an excellent job in 4 filling the environment with culture and detail, even if it's similar to what they did in 3. I like it. As for the definitive difference that screamed "I am far cry 4!", I'm pretty sure that was the elephants. Obviously they're carrying that on into this next game with the mammoths, but that doesn't bother me.
I guess I generally have a more laid back approach to FPS's, I don't play them very often and usually drop a game after I've finished the single player mode. I feel like this series is really well developed and I have a lot of fun playing them, I can let hokey voice acting pass now and then ( I played through Resident Evil after all...). And I usually always hate the silent protagonist in games. I think that's normal.
