Does anyone know anything about Mattel GUTS? I can't tell if they are even rubber guys, and couldn't see any posts about them. 10 of these little ninjas are on ebay for 27 currently, says from the 80s. Any info would be appreciated, I'm always looking for oddball little guys and ninjas, well they're always cool.

I just saw it says Aikido Force in smaller letters. I think I have seen something on that before.

I had some when I was young. I believe they came in a few different pack variations...2pck, 5pck, 10pck.. I'm not sure of their exact release date, but I remember having them in the early 90's a little bit after the m.u.s.c.l.e. craze. If my memory serves me correctly they were semi-flexible rubber figs just a little bigger than m.u.s.c.l.e I remember having Army Guys and Ninjas

EDIT: looks like they came out in 1986... here's some info.. http://www.x-enterta.../articles/0787/

I was watching these:

Didn't really have the $$$ to spend on them right now though. :(

They are all over eBay for cheap:

If you time it right, you might be able to score a full set loose for about $10.

Those are pretty rad. I disliked GUTS when I was a kid, because they were way bigger than MUSCLE... But, there were a few really neat sculpts.

Thanks gang for the info, I'm going to snag a few cheap auctions if possible. I'm not sure at 31 years old how I totally missed these in mid-80s, probably too busy not taking care of my Battle Beasts and GI Joes.

That's all correct mate!

I re-paste a small entry I did on them and the Action Figure.ca forum some years ago plus some edits:

GUTS from Mattel, made around 1986 – 1987.
Small, inarticulate (thus indestructible) painted plastic soldier (around 2,5â€￾ – 3â€￾).
Came in 2, 5 or 10 pack. 2 pack were carded, the rest boxed.
Dispatched in 6 different themed squad of 10 men each, which were:

Green Berets: Military unit with grey uniform and namesake colored berets. Had a german Shepard dog in their pack.
Lazer troopers: Spacemen in white costume sporting rayguns
Ground Troops: Modern army men with khaki / camo uniform
Aikido Force: Martial art team with ninja, samurai and Mongol style fighter dressed in black
Undersea Sabotage Team: Commando in Blue frogman suit
Jungle Fighter: Bare-chested tough military guy ala Rambo / Missing in action

Stumbled on one from my childhood (a Green Beret trooper) in my old boxes at home. I like green army men and these are some of the few that have a bit more personality (they had name and tagline on their card and boxes) and the feel of 1980’s action flick (except maybe the scuba and lazer guy, and still). I thus look around to found the boxed version and loose ones.
Being a Rambo nut, the Jungle Fighter but all mish-mash with great fun to do multi-task squadron ala G.I. Joe.

And also of note, two vehicule were made for that line:
Swinfire - A Hummer type truck
Python Tank - An armored carrier.

Here some pic of my collection:

An auction I saw a number of months ago had several five packs and two packs. It sold for something like $25-$35.

Indeed I'm sure you guys can fetch those for good prices; never paid much for any part of my collection and yet this is a really fun line to collect oozing with 1980's goodness.

Talking of oozing, some figure can get sticky but it's a rare occurence. The tires of both vehicule do are really gooey (mine at least), and the sticker glue passed through the decals. Otherwise this line age well as about any LRG line.

So I don't know if anyone here actually still collects or ever did really collect G.U.T.S. figures, but I ran across this auction and it would be a pretty cool bootleg item for someone that is a fan of them, and/or G.I. Joe. Not much time left!
