This is something I've wanted to make for years. It's one of those things that is so iconic it's spawned countless versions and stories and songs and movies so the actual source material itself gets forgotten. The true origin of a wish granting moneky's paw was a brilliant short story written well over 100 years ago. The reason so many versions of that story keep getting retold is because it's passed it's copyright date and it has been public domain for a long time. Here is the story in it's entirety if anyone is interested.

It's inspired so many things from Tales of the Crypt to the Twilight Zone and The Simpsons and Rick and Morty. Even Stephen King admits that Pet Sematary was his rip-off of the original short story.

As usual there won't be any images of the actual sculpt shared until people start getting the packages in the mail but I will say that it's about 3 inches tall and no effort was spared in the sculpting itself. I loved the idea so much that I put a couple of months into the design and sculpt until I didn't think I could do any better. Also the color is inspired by the infamous purple muscle claw which I thought would be a fun nod to LRG itself.

They go on sale tomorrow with all the new colors of the previous releases but for pretty much everything in stock this time it will be while supplies last. Don't worry though there will be plenty to go around and anyone who wants one should be able to get it in the first couple weeks or so.

Be careful what you wish for...

It was the same for me! As a little kid all my books came from thrift stores. I was probably around 7 when I found a Monkey Paw book in the kids section for 25 cents and I was allowed to buy it because everyone thought it was a children's book. It was not and it scared the crap out of me. I loved it and I have been a literary horror fan ever since.

Yeah, I read that story in grade school too and it scared the hell out of me.  Just flat out creepy.  I can see the parallel with Gage Creed from Pet Sematary.  I also like this idea for a rubberized figure.

Let us wish our son back to life.....

It was no doubt the time I finished a book and enjoyed reading it. They actually used it in my English class in 6th grade.

Ahh, The Monkey's Paw. That was a good time in English class.

I can't believe I didn't notice the intention of it being purple to represent The Claw, though! Of course you'd do a severed hand in purple. I guess I got "grape ape" stuck in my head and thought nothing more of it.

Though I can't share the sculpt or cast images yet here is an image of the little insert for this one.

It actually has nothing at all to do with what the sculpt looks like(the art is not a monkey or a paw)but for anyone who read the story it will make sense. The arm was totally drawn by hand on paper with a pen and most of the rest was done with TONS of graphics help from Eric Nilla.

Since they are finally landing in people's mailboxes and showing up on instagram I figured I could share the sculpt now.

This was when the sculpt was nearly finished in clay. Stands about 3 inches tall and it does actually stand very well. The base is flat so anyone who wants to display it upright can. The black marks are actually from a sharpie pen that I use for sculpting guidelines. Works well because it doesn't make any difference in molding/casting anyway.

Coming this Friday to the Deadly Delivery shop will be a run of shadow black Monkey Paws!

This is my personal favorite color for this sculpt. Just looks so authentic in a creepy kind of way.
