I have been using these and modifying them in Paint to keep track of my Series 1 and 2 figures:
MIMPtracker_S1.PNG 55.56K 140 downloads MIMPtracker_S2.PNG 29.1K 107 downloads
but wondered if anyone was using anything more advanced.

Most people would prefer a spreadsheet (such as Microsoft Excel, like "Rare Bob" uses) for such a checklist. A spreadsheet is perfect for newer collectors.
Yeah, sadly most people don't have Excel, I only have it on my work computer, so in that regard I think a simple PNG file is best for me.
My own collection includes many rare and obscure figures, and it would be extremely difficult to create columns for every conceivable sculpt, color, and variation. Therefore my own collection (in fact, merely a part of my collection) is listed in the form of a Microsoft Word document. This Microsoft Word list of mine is considerably harder to browse than a spreadsheet but, as a said, it's necessitated by the obscurity of some of my figures - which are listed nowhere on your spreadsheet.
I think it goes without saying that the tracker above is only good if you're one of those who is concentrating on collecting the original MEG figures - although that means it should still be good for most people, who tend not to collect Patagonian limited editions or whatever.

"UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL"...
When I was President of my university NORML chapter, I corresponded with more than 300 different organizations which were all working (separately, for the most part) towards the goal of re-legalizing (or at least decriminalizing) cannabis in the United States. A few of these groups had unique ideas for how to achieve this goal. For the most part, however, it was a duplication of efforts: people dedicated to the same goal, yet working in small and largely-ineffectual groups. As we say here in the United States: "United we stand, divided we fall."
It's like this MIMP websites. There are already a few great websites, yet people continue to create new (and relatively small) MIMP websites anyway. Recently, for example, I've seen modest MIMP websites by yourself and by "Rare Bob". What if, however, we were to work together as a group on one INCREDIBLE website: the most comprehensive MIMP website yet, the most authoritative website yet, with the best MIMP pictures available. What if the greatest MIMP photographers, such as Asator, Lars Graefe, Amaury Castel, Federico Mazzotta, etc., were to all contribute their photographs to one SINGLE website? I can tell you "what": it would be the best MIMP website yet, and would quickly rise to the top of any Google searches for "Monster In My Pocket". In turn, having a website with a high Google rating would allow us to meet other MIMP collectors.
Join me, fellow MIMPers. This is not a dream. Together we CAN make such a website into a REALITY!
That is the plan, I already have pictures from both asator, trumanshower and yourself which I previously had permission to use, I just need to get myself organised and sort it all out.
I do hope you had a look at the link at the bottom for my own personal collection aswell
Oh yeah and its nice to see you back again, I suppose

Hey, check out Openoffice.org. A completely free alternative to Microsoft Office, and of very high quality. I personally prefer OO Calc to Excel.
Edit: Oh, and while it has it's own native formats, its also compatible with all the major M$ file formats.

(I've disabled the "update inventory" and "update figures" pages for now, as it's only set up to edit/display my own collection for the time being.)
Like I said, it's just a stripped-down and horribly inefficient version of what I'd originally intended, and is nowhere near what the final "inventory" would look or function like, but it does display figures I've collected, as well as track (but not display) duplicates and notes I've made for each monster (ie, "marker on bottom," "chip in wing," "needs cleaning.")
Not sure if or when I'll get the time or motivation to continue with the project, but it's an idea of how something like this could work.

Right, I had a bit of spare time on my hands (wife was ill, the kids fell asleep) so I decided to do a basic layout for the MIMP Collector Archive (which hurt my head lots) I recently aquired some more Wrestlers and Space Aliens which I didnt have too many of (I had loads when I was little) which means it'll be easier for me to build the website if I have something to base it round.
I will remove it from my collection site and try and get another url to stick it up but it wont be for a few weeks.

I think that's fair enough, but have you thought about getting the ball rolling and starting the proposed website yourself? Everyone has been talking about a new website ever since I've been on this board, but so far it's only been limited to talking. Aikola has made an actual website which looks cool and has a good layout - if he wants to expand on it and get everyone in the MIMP community to contribute then I think that might be a good start. Therefore, I honestly doubt whether the best possible MIMP website could be produced without my input. I'm restating my call for one new, authoritative MIMP website.

http://www.telivo.co.uk/ - I have used this before
http://www.droa.com/ - American based, at the moment I have a domain/hosting registered
Once a domain name is purchased you will also require hosting to be able to upload information
to the site! This is usually bought for a 2 year basis. It will need renewing for a cash price unless
someone knows of a free hosting service (will include ugly ads, banners etc)
Just did a couple of searches to see what is out there:
www.mimpcollector.com is available
www.monstercollector.org is available
www.rubbermonster.com is available
I was giving this some thought last night. I am qualified for producing html/css websites and
flash. My main concern is 'time' - I have a lot of study coming up. Also there doesn't seem to
be a 'clear' indication of what this website will entail? It could end up being a box of tricks and
not particular useful.
Are you all thinking something like this:
http://www.raumhafen...mimp/index.html
I am tempted to just begin some experiments on my own interpretation for just Series 1 Monsters.
Categories: Matchbox, Premium, Mexican, Italian, Argentina, Peru, Misc
Sub catergories: 25pts, 20pts, 15pts, 10pts, 5pts
Grid like formation of colours, just images no tables. Similar presentation to Aikola website except
links will be on header at the top (I like the clean style).
Brojo when you mention 'interactive' sections, what do you have in mind?

Attempted to register the domain www.monstercollector.com, just waiting on the approval.
Here is a visual of what the guide may look like (with some of my own figures). I was thinking
perhaps the thumbnails can be clicked to see higher resolution photograph in a pop up window.
Each Series 1 release has it's own page; Mexico, Italy etc.
I am setting up this website with my current collection but as some of you may not be aware
I didn't aim to get ALL mimp colours. So other collectors contributions would be most welcome,
prefer photos to fit in with current style. I would make sure you were credited and you can sign
the bottom of each image if required. *It would particularly useful from the people who I traded/
sold figures that I didn't have doubles of (unfortunately didn't take detailed photo reference before
saying goodbye).
Plus I don't own a single Series 3 figure so I cannot even begin on that section.

Looks great, that's often a big part of the battle, just finding an overall design. I only have 4 MIMP, but I can send you pictures of them.

Contributions welcome, thank you. The Mexican Sonrics the Red Jotun Troll
would be great plus the Italian Gold Skeleton.
Tips for camera usage for those that require it:
I constructed a stage out of an old pizza box with plain white paper background.
Positioned a light source high above it on a shelf then put the camera on the
flat surface next to the stage. If you set it to macro mode (flower icon usually)
this will allow close up detail to be captured. With the camera positioned on
a hard surface just press the trigger button to focus and take the shot. Camera
shake usually destroys the macro shot. Also pay attention to the 'light' mode
on the camera itself, some specify tungsten/daylight etc.

I'm starting collecting MIMP and I'll sure use your sheet Strontium Dog.
Maybe when my collection grow I'll aim at something else, but so far I just want to get pesky little plastic monster by the handful. Which is the original draw of the line anyway!

I am merely creating my personal take of a MIMP website that I hope others
can contribute to. As you can see I actually pull my finger out and do something
rather than just discredit the efforts of others.
You never answered my previous questions to what you envisage this website
to be, interactive features etc. If this is to be a team effort someone has to take
charge. If you wanted to be the 'leader' be more proactive about it rather than
just instruct others.
I welcome contributions to the website from anyone. If you don't agree with
my vision perhaps you can bring some constructive criticism or solid visuals
for what you imagine the website should entail. Oh and credit where credit
is due... as the organizing of objects stems back to exhibition design and
museum display we better start conducting a huge list to where these ideas
really do originate 'sarcasm'.

Hmmm, seems like a familiar idea.
Are we going to work together as a group on Darryl's website? Or should I still get "LaRata" to buy a domain name? Or are we still considering Aikola's website the best option? Has anyone even considered that the efforts of Darryl, Aikola, and myself could all be towards the same website?
Nice work Darryl, however this came as a bit of a shock and just days before I was to reveal my site.
Here is the current work in progress (I have also been doing research on what figures exist) www.monsterinmypocket.001webs.com
I am now wondering wether to carry on or not now.

reason I just thought it would operate in your existing site! Well having a look
I think your website fills the gap which is a website that shows ALL sculpts
including the later releases.
Is your Series 1 section incomplete? Perhaps my website will be more comprehensive.
I don't think you should be deterred. I created this concept of the website I would
like to see. Note the previous image I attached is just a concept in Photoshop.
I couldn't register monster collector so have gone for the next best:

The logo has been altered accordingly. Unfortunately I am under the weather this
week but plan to continue with this shortly. I will take any comments on board.

reason I just thought it would operate in your existing site! Well having a look

The whole website is incomplete at the moment, the plan was to research every figure and add it to the site then add the pictures later.
I did plan to add EVERY figure (Matchbox/Italian/Sonrics/Cromy and Peruvian) to my website, however at the moment due to space (its a free domain/space)
I wont be adding the Hi-res pictures that Brojo speaks of.
My only worry is with 2 websites being produced is that some people might prefer to add content to one rather than the other but we will see with time.
