I'm in the minority here... but I LOVED the MASK towline when I was a kid.  The figures were cool... the MASKS were cool... and the vehicles were GREAT!

Don't know what to think about the movie rumor, but whatever... interestingly enough even though I liked the toys I NEVER got into the show.

sounds great to me, a crossover would have been cool as a kid....sadly they made the matt trakker gi joe figure way too late to have made the crossover a possibility when gi joe ruled the world

anything to make up for Retaliation. Waited an extra year for the film, just so they could make a stand alone project. No idea why the bothered making the second one when it ignored 90% of the first one.

Not saying that it was a good movie at all... The only thing I will say for the second one was that !!!!!!!SPOILERS!!!!!!!

Killing everyone off in the first few minutes of the movie... Including Channing Tatum was ballsy.

I LOVED the MASK towline when I was a kid.  The figures were cool... the MASKS were cool... and the vehicles were GREAT!

I recently picked up a small cache of MASK drivers (pilots?) at an antique store. They all have bright, neon masks which differs from the only one I remember having as a kid with a grey mask. I like the way the color variations of the masks look displayed next to each other, which kind of makes me want to collect just the figures; I'm not really interested in the vehicles anymore though.

I thought the figures were cool... And the masks were pretty unique. And they always fit really well on the characters. Next time I'm back at my parents place... I have a big box of Mask stuff to go through and MOU box.

After starting this thread I went back and was reading a bit more about the Mask line... I had no idea it was so short lived. I think my my favorite vehicle toy that I had was the semi truck and the black truck. I remember the black truck had a "spare tire" that had little razor blades that popped out kind of like a ninja star that I was thought was super cool.

M.A.S.K. was such an awesome toyline. I know I watched the cartoon too, can 't remember much. I'm sure it doesn't hold up too well, just like GI Joe. but I wouldn't mind a resurgence of the line. I was scoping out that battle force 5 series when that was out. It's pretty similar, just doesn't have the charm though.  Though I suppose that could be because I was looking at the series through the eyes a cynical 30+ year old.

Speaking of being cynical... And looking at old lines that were similar to other toy lines... I was just reading about Eagle Force!! Very GI Joes esque but made out of die cast metal. I think they are kinda cool. Not very big line. And pretty damn cheap to given the timeline...

Eagle force was kind of lame. I recently had a ninja figure from that line and it seemed like it had very little playability; plus I don't really enjoy diecast...to me, the material has always mattered. Softer plastics or rubber was always more fun for some reason. Mask was pretty cool. I enjoyed the toys as a kid and still have about 6 vehicles and a handful of figures today. Some of the vehicles were a lot more clever and interesting than others. According to the story cannon, the masks gave the drivers different powers too. I like the mad max feel of some of the vehicles and drivers. I always loved those movies, so anything I could get my hands on that would help me play in that world was a go. Tonka steel monsters was awesome for this too, albeit short lived...the things they could have done with that line! Anyways, I'm down for a combo of the two...if it sucks they will just re-boot the franchise again anyway, like all movie studios always do!

Lol... when I wrote the post about Eagle Force I had only seen the packages.  And they were so oddly retro/ kitsch that I thought they looked neat.  I'd never held one in my hand.  Well... since then I have.  I got my hands on an old beat up one and yeah, I don't like the die cast either.  Maybe it sounded good on paper to somebody - but it's not very practical and doesn't feel very "play worthy" somehow.

Yeah I totally see what you mean about them. In package they do look neat...nice 80's look and all that. The lack of playability is what surely sunk the line though...once kids got them open and started playing with them, it probably got old quick. Lack of articulation and the fact that they are metal. I'm sure some kids liked them...I just couldn't get on board. I preferred G.U.T.S. figures for my mini combat toys.
