I can't say I recall this one, but I loved the NES game. Bonus for the beach boys like intro song. So 3 misfit kids get ooze dumped on them and turn into battle toads.

Yeah the cartoon was pretty bad... AND short lived.  They wanted so badly for it to tun into a TMNT phenomenon...

Remember how the arcade game had blood, gore, and crotch punches?  I think it was in response to this.

The best thing about Battletoads was the pause music. I'd like to have that as a ring tone.

Behemoth -

Don't remember the pause music... I'm going to have to look that up...

Rideyu -

I think I only played the arcade machine once... so I berely remember it.  SOunds awesome!

For as big of a following as Battletoads has - you would think that they would bring it back in some form (videogame wise I mean)!

I don't think I ever could beat that blasted level with the hover vehicle. I recall using game genie around that same period, so maybe I cheated a bit.

Coincidentally I just started selling off the NES and SNES games I didn't want to keep and Battletoads is one of them that hasn't sold yet :)

http://www.ebay.com/...984.m1555.l2649

I'm hanging onto the systems though and about 10 games for each. Got some nice prices for some of the SNES games so far though, Robotrek went for a cool $60 :)

I had about 50 NES games, but by the time the SNES came out I was starting to get distracted and kind of fell out of gaming. I think I only had 3 SNES games and they were all launch titles.

I still haven't sold everything yet... Just a handful of games.

I'm trying to move a lot of the toys first. Just out of curiosity Bachamn what games are you holding onto....?

I finally sold most of my NES games and the system. Gave a few games to a friend. But I still have an SNES and several games for it. Love that system.

Chrono Trigger was awesome! My favorite SNES was probably a Link to The Past. That's also my favorite Zelda... I know a lot of people are enamored Ocarina but to me Link to the Past took everything you loved in the first on and just built on it. Sometimes I feel like the only reason so many people love Ocarina of Time is that it's the nostalgia of seeing Link transition into 3d for the first time.

And even though it wasn't very challenging, I'm a sucker for Super Castlevania.

Yknow, I never did play the Battletoads sequel on SNES... I always wondered how it was.

I also never tried FF3... I LOVED the first one on the original NES and played that to death. They kinda lost me of the second one. And I think by the time the 3rd came out... I wasn't really getting new games for the system any more (it was collecting dust lol).

FFII (Japan VI) was an SNES title, I believe FFIV was the last title relased for Famicom in Japan but didn't make it to the US. Here's the games I'm holding onto for now. Some of them aren't even that great of games but I have memories playing them (like Clash at Demon Head).

NES

  • Basewars
  • Black Bass
  • Clash at Demon Head
  • Crystalis
  • Dragon Warrior
  • Excitebike
  • Jaws
  • Legend of Zelda
  • Legend of Zelda 2: Link to the Past
  • Metroid
  • Mike Tyson's Punch-Out
  • Ninja Gaiden
  • Super Mario Brothers
  • Super Mario Brothers 2
  • Super Mario Brothers 3
  • TMNT
  • T&C Surf Design

SNES

  • Chrono Trigger
  • Final Fantasy III
  • NBA Jam
  • Ranma 1/2: Hard Battle
  • Secret of Mana
  • Starfox
  • Street Fighter II
  • Super Mario Kart
  • Super Mario World
  • Tecmo Super Bowl

FFIV there was released as II here, and FF6 there as III here. Made no sense but hey, why not?

Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite games.

The SNES Battletoads was just a better version of the original. Same difficulty but better graphics and controls.

FF3 was the first truly great RPG I played and the first I bought myself. It has a great story and awesome music along with the typical fun RPG style. 14 playable characters is also fun.

I was bummed when I heard the remastered version of the Opera House level where they added in the actual vocals. I'll take my characters singing with ghostly midi sfx only, thank you very much!

They changed many of the sounds in the Playstation version. Some for the better and some not. I hated the loading times most though.

Yeah at that time I was only playing attention to what was releAsed in the USA... So when I played FF2 on the SNES I just thought it was the sequel but I didn't understand why it didn't seem to follow the story of the first.

I really should track down a SNES copy of the Battletoads before I sell my system. Glad to hear that it has the same level of difficulty.

BAch -LOL a month or so ago I pulled out my copy of T&C Surf and I couldn't for the life of me remember why on earth I liked it so much!

I can remember always playing T&C Surf and never getting really anywhere, especially the dang surfing areas but it never bothered me as a kid. Anyone play the NES game Rygar? Still one of my favorites, especially the soundtrack.

Also, frequenting blockbuster I was always drawn to the Secret of Mana SNES boxart and rented it out many times. RIP blockbuster.

T&C Surf was a hard game! Wasn't that just like a surfboard/clothing company or something? Weird who used to get game franchises back in the day. I imagine their production went something like, "I don't know just make it so hard that we only have to make three levels....and make one of the characters a gorilla. Now let's get our of here, the waves are gnarly right now brah!"
