I never really thought about how I'd go about my next quest...cause unlike Morrowind, this game pretty much hands everything to you on a silver platter. It actually spoiled me with that crazy little compass. I used to hate it when you had to find the "lost door" to some cave or something in Morrowind, and for some reason you always seem to overlook it the first time and it takes you an hour to figure out you passed the place 3 times without knowing it.
But for Oblivion, although I highly recommend doing everything eventually. I REALLY recommend the thieves guild.

Man...Oblivion is old news now isn't it. It's been a good year since I remember playing it last.
And as far as the Dark Brotherhood assassins guild. I got my first invite from Lucien when I was inside of that High elf's dreams, which was really cool.

The Dark Brotherhood quests were especially awesome.
Now that I think about it, I haven't actually completed the main quest yet... whoops!

I havn't played it myself, but my brother has been putting wicked hours into the series, and I have watched him play it alot as well. As for the exact size of the game, I couldn't tell you. But I'm sure it's as big if not bigger than Oblivion.

Incidentally, Fallout fans are known for being absolutely fanatical in their devotion to the games, they are kind of like the Ninja Mite fans of the video gaming world.

is fallout 3 a big game? like over 100 hrs or more? if so, i may have to add it to my "get list" now that it's going for cheap at target.
Yeah it is gigantic. I think my current play clock is at like 130 hours, and i still need to play one of the expansions. It's a good thing you don't already have it, because they just released a game of the year edition. $60, and it gets you the game plus all five DLC packs, which total $50 on their own. So you don't have to be like me and spend $110 on the game. I would STRONGLY recommend this goty edition over the regular one, as the DLC packs are mostly must-owns. Especially Broken Steel, which raises the level cap and extends the game past the original ending...if you don't have Broken Steel and you beat the game, the game just ENDS. Nobody wants that.
Once my 360 comes back all fixed up i'll be finishing up that last expansion, then starting over again to play as an evil character.

I think mostly it's because i'm afraid of killing shopkeepers that i might need for something awesome later in the game.
In real life if i kill shopkeepers they will just hire someone else.

I started that game, but lost interest. I wasn't real keen on how the character levels and how every enemy/bandit/creature was kicking the crap out of me at every meeting. Plus the whole quick deterioration of the weapons ticked me off.

Yeah that is a big issue with the gameplay, but once you start hitting higher levels and pick out the best perks it gets easier. I recall my brother getting destroyed by those stupid giant fire ants when he first started playing. He couldn't even take one out. Now he is well outfitted and doesn't even have much trouble with anything except those giant lizard monsters.
If you don't mind being bored for about 10 hours, there is a cheap level up trick you can use on the console version. Of course you will need to save often and have good repetition....or the land mine will just blow you up before you disarm it.

One thing i found really satisfying about this game vs. Oblivion is that the enemies don't level with you. In Oblivion, i found every fight through the entire game to just be tedious because no matter how strong you get, every random bear or goblin in the game is getting stronger with you. In Fallout, new stronger enemies start to show up, but the old weak ones are there too, ripe for the looting.
Plus as previously mentioned the setting is just ridiculously satisfying. Sooo many little side stories to run across, that you could play the whole game and never see. I spent hours just aimlessly roaming in that game, and it always paid off.
