Well, it's been a while, since I have been here. Real Life and so on...

So, my toyroom is making progress. And I'm trying to complete my collections from action figures to little rubber guys. And since I got a complete lot of Bad Eggz Bunch now already, I am in search for some MIMPs as well. Especially I now have every MIMP in purple except one: The Hobgoblin.

I have seen it on advertising. And I have seen it once in a lot on ebay, but it went for over 150 dollars and I got outbid. I don't know if it's Sonric or Cromy or whatever.

So, I wanted to ask the forum: Does anybody have a purple Hobgoblin or can tell me about it? Which company it's from? It is definitely hard to find for as much as I know.

Greetings from Germany.

MEG/Matchbox Purple Hobgoblin is not supposed to exist, although we can see him in front of the volcano box

Maybe you mean the neon purple color? That is an uncommon figure because it's thought to have been limited to certain countries (mainly France). If you have every other Series 1 MIMP in purple I assume they are neon purple instead of standard purple, because several monsters, like Hobgoblin, were never released in standard purple (or if they were, they would be factory anomalies and would be incredibly rare). Every Series 1 monster was made in neon purple, but some of them are uncommon.

Sonrics made Mexican figures in a similar color to the Matchbox neon purple, but those aren't molded as cleanly as the Matchbox figures and you'd likely only see them in lots from sellers in Mexico.

can confirm; Sonrics kraken I have is an exact color match for the Matchbox NP color and has obvious flash lines

Sonrics also made standard purple figures; not just neon purple. In fact they made all the standard colors (red, yellow, Olive green and purple). Also the Sonrics Hobgoblin are pretty decent as Sonrics go and might be harder to differentiate from a matchbox with only a pic for reference.

If you have a picture from that auction; that would be great. A handful of "unreleased" anomalies have been found; one of which is in my collection. Yellow harpy if you were wondering. The others would be a second yellow harpy from the same lot mine came from, Red Haniver, Olive Haniver, Red Karnak, yellow hydra (Drools), and one other I cant think of at the moment.

@trumanshower That's what I meant. On the box, there's a purple Hobgoblin, but I don't know whether it's a prototype or not. @fkro6784 With Neon Purple, you mean the Magenta Figures? I have many of those, but I actually mean the original purple. I can post a picture if you like to. @PaulEwog116 No, sadly I don't have a picture. It was years ago. However I got every other figure in a normal purple. Sonrics are a bit darker than the Original MIMP.

Magenta and neon purple are 2 different colors. Magenta is also known as pink -- it's the color from Series 2 and some of the Series 1 cereal and board game premiums. Neon purple is a different color, from when Matchbox re-released Series 1 in four neon colors shortly after the first release in standard colors.

So you mean you have every 48 serie 1 MIMP in purple except hobgoblin ?

because werewolf, cockatrice, triton, kraken, the monster, manticore, coatlicue, baba yaga, hobgoblin and windigo are not supposed to exist in matchbox purple.

Well, here you go. In the back lie all the others, except the Hobgoblin.

I can't be doing with reading all of the above, but at a glance I think the guy above is confusing standard edition purple with Neon Purple of the 'Hot Colour' wave. Magenta is pink and obviously not purple, so no confusion can be had there.

I'm sure I saw a "Purple" :db: Hobgoblin one time (most likely a neon) This was many many moons ago though. It was submerged inside a small tub of MIMP bath gel.

From what I recall, it was a shopping centre (somewhere in Scarborough I think this was). Could be wrong on this as I'd be only 4 or 5 when this happened.

While on the subject, was this a UK only thing? and if so does anyone here remember it and have any photos?

Well, the Magenta figures are often named "Neon Purple". That is, why I was asking. Magenta is actually lightened purple or reddish purple. But however... I'm not looking for the hot colors, but for purple itself.

Are your purples standing up in the front row of that photo a bit darker than the ones in the back (except the Monster)? I'm thinking all the ones standing in the front are Mexican figures.

Check this out -- it shows the different Mexican colors.

Yes, they are. And if there is a mexican Hobgoblin, I'd like to know.
