Painted by Retroband as an homage to the greatest shark film ever made this JAWS artist edition should be ready to drop this Saturday in Retro's online shop. Produced in solid grey vinyl each monster is being hand painted with v-color by Retro himself. The run isn't very big so if you want one make sure to check the shop the day they release.

Dropping this Saturday at 12pm CST in Retroband's online shop. This is an artist painted edition so I have no control over sales and I can't do a pre-order or help out my friends with the drop. It is every man for himself this time!

I do not but as soon as I do I'll post it here.

God DAMN that's nice.

He is doing a killer job on them! I love the headers Retroband did the art for too. Eric helped put all the text together and Karis is my main for quality printing.

That would make for some great pictures!

I'm at a con all day, so I don't stand a chance in hell.

You can have all of my good luck.

It is interesting getting hand painted stuff done. Generally I make about the same amount off a blank that I do from a toy that someone else paints. Part of me feels odd when something is up for sale for a few times the normal price but so many people only collect painted vinyl and have no interest at all in blanks. Personally most of my collection is blank because I like playing with my toys and letting other people play with them and not having to worry much about stuff getting dropped or tossed around. At the same time though some of my favorite stuff is painted so it's a toss up.

The plan is to mix in some small painted runs for the hardcore collectors and fans of specific painters but every now and then do a blank run for people like me who don't spend a ton of money on toys. I hope I can keep everyone excited and looking forward to something that way.

The difficulty is that when an artist is painting stuff I don't have much say in regards to the actual sale. It wouldn't be fair to hook up 10 of my friends when there are only 20 pieces for sale and the artist painting them has several hundred friends who want one as well. So first come first served is the fairest way to go I think. The quantity is what it is and can't really be changed. I never limit stuff on purpose but when something is painted it's always up to the painter how many they have time to do. Retroband for example has his own vinyl figure that he paints and sells for 250-300 bucks each. When a reseller gets one they go for well over a thousand bucks on ebay. So him taking the time to paint 20 of my figures and sell them for what he'd get for just 2 of his own is pretty awesome. It's not really worth his time and effort financially at all which makes it pretty special I think that he still wanted to do it. He could have doubled or tripled the price and his fans would have still snatched them quickly but he was really respectful to my original price and the people who like my work so he went as cheap as he could.

Well at the end of the day - I think it was very fairly priced. Even though it's been frustrating being shut out or unable to pick a figure up in time... It certainly adds to the excitement! The thrill of the hunt can add to the thrill of the toy sometimes. And it helps even more when you have a sculpt as damn awesome as the Tug.
