I had an idea last night cause i've been wanting to paint a few muscles.

made a clay mold of Black king for example
then cook the clay seal the clay

no when you lock the 2 clay plate together , the foot holes are exposed.
pour liquid plastic into the mold let sit for a few days
and boom a clear plastic replica ready to paint

good idea bad idea or immoral?

I think it's a great idea, although I doubt that you'll be able to pass off the result as a legit MUSCLE, so I don't think it would be immoral. When a mold is formed from a toy sculpt, a good amount of detail is lost. If you've ever seen original sculpted prototypes, they're always more detailed than the production figure. I guess the molding material is unable to get all the subtle details perfectly. The MUSCLE bootleggers probably employed a technique similar to what you're proposing.

But I think you should try it out anyway. It would probably be fun!

yea like wood man or the black hole with a full hole in his head,
wood man would lose some grain i'd think
and black holes head might or might not be as good as the orginal.

i've been trying to think of a good substance to use without ruining the muscle or discolouring the muscle.

so far i've thought of

plaster
clay
liquid rubber (latex)

and i settled on clay for the moment

When plaster and clay hardens, does it shrink? Maybe that's why some MUSCLE bootlegs (and Exoginis) are smaller than the original MUSCLEs.

It sounds like a good idea. If you are worried about bootleging you could put the figures in different poses or some other change and make it a somewhat custom creation.

Let us know how it turns out. I am deffinatly interested in seeing how they turn out.

One last thing if you were ever going to sell them make sure that ppl know they are bootleg.

Yo could remove the ysnt mark from the clay before cooking it or make a little stamp or symbol to signfy that you made it.

like taking cowboy kinnikuman and cutting his head and hat off and putting terryman's head their making cowboy terryman

i was going to ake the models like i said and then use wax to create characters , cut the wax and rejoin then remodel/remold the new figure B)

I will let you know how it goes , but after my mass purchase yesterday i need to wait till friday for my next pay check

^_^ LOL :o

wyah- this is a good idea. you can always mark over the YS/NT bit, to prove that they're bootlegs.

For example- "Reproductions" of the black hole sunshine, or spinning head ashuraman- sold as fakes, not the real thing. Or, kinkeshi figures in a harder material than the original eraser rubber- you pay for the materials, supply your own kinkeshi to make the mold.

i looked around my house today and boom found some modeling clay
making attemt one right this moment.

i went next doo to ask for a few candles and melting them down to make a wax model of what the mold makes.

I'm using Hawkman (A) from my muscle_dex cause he had the most detail in his feathery head B)

i'm going to see the detail loss from the clay and shrinkage ^_^
if this attempt doesn't work i'm going to try Warsman (A) or the flexing robin mask :o

[edit]Attempt 1 failed
doing attempted 2 and possibly 3 tonight
Attempt 1 outcome or finalization mold was bent after cooking then cracked in half

I someone can perfect the bootlegging process, we all could learn from him and make tons of cool figures! SWEET!!! ^_^

It would be like Yoda teaching the force to all his young apprentices in Star Wars Episode II.

yeah cool idea
i've often toyed with the idea of melting a muscle in the microwave
and when i have him at just the right temperature clamp him in a new mold
i'm certain it will work i just need the mold and when i get it just right i'll
flood the market with blue zords hahhahaaahahaaaaaaaaaahaaaahhahah

thats pure evil.
to make mold to sell them is evil.
collect to collect ^_^

B) of course i know once i release a howto to this populi the method will be safe

the only 2 reasons i started this is to make more warsmen and robinmask variations , maybe to make a few terryman since he's populi with the kids B)

[edit] if you head to my webpage , i made a message board fun for the bootleg and once i get info i'll be posting it their as well :o

I did the silicone and all that stuff followed your guide to perfection
and well G&E Silicon 1 killed my muscle

I pam'ed him up the ying yang and kept a eye on him
wake up the next morning and i removed him from the mold and 5% of the mold was on him and now i'm trying to remove it. e+

but i think i'm quitting this and i'll just spend my money elsewhere.
or keep trying different techs with plasters.
my plaster monkey man is 99% perfect all i need to do i pour soe plastic into the mold

Ugh, Warsman, I apologze for that.......

there IS an alternative to PAM......I didn't wanna suggest it, because it's messier and can reduce the details....but it does work.......

Vaseline.......rub your Muscle with Vaseline , before putting it in the rubber

(Oh god, that doesn't sound right, Maybe that's why I didn't say anything in the first place)

i used ole petrolum Jelly
with my plaster molding works great , just makes the muscle oily for 3 days
i use a fine panit brush to brush the jelly on to make sure no clumps
i must say the way i mix the platers is 1 for 1 and not the 1.5 to 1
making the plaster looser and finer making the plaster make all the details
more visible. trust me on that oneI played with 5 formuli with the plaster
and 1 for 1 is the best sometimes it goes with 1 cup plaster to 1.3 cup water.

I hope to cast a plaster model in solid Red in a few days i coated my plaster mold with sealer. and i have to buy more plastic cause my old can from making buttons for my NES controller wasn't cleaned properly and i've glued my can shut
