I'm always looking at what's new in the sofubi world. I like the paint job on those figures and the vintage look of the old ones.

Do you like this type of toys?

 

It's quite the opposite of keshis but i like the big 13" tall sofubis.

I plan to make some myself in resin when my rotocasting machine is finished.

My brother has a bunch. I have like 1 or 2. Id like to get into them more but their high prices turn me off to it. Also more often than not theres always one small detail about the sculpt that turns me off from spending a fortune on it.

 

I too am in the process off building a rotocast machine. Just cut the wood and printed the gears. I wanna try my hand at making one of these.

Nice, i will probably buy an airbrush to try painting too.

They look interesting but I wouldn't buy them even if I had the money, not the style I like to collect.

Sofubi is a ridiculously broad term that has recently been assumed to mean $200+ vinyl figures made in low production runs for collectors and such. And no, definitely don't make a habit to collect those. I still have a Marmit MH Gigan I am very proud to own, hanging around in a box somewhere, but generally my sofubi collection is of the mass-market Bandai variety of cool giant monsters instead of art toys.

 

Oh, and some of the Tug o' War figures I was lucky enough to purchase, still need to grab Necrolossus one of these days.

All my favorite "sofubi" is older stuff and mostly pretty small. Two or three inch figures of really unique monsters most of which retailed for under 10 bucks. The idea that sofubi needs to be incredibly limited and insanely priced is ridiculous.

I have several items that are akin to what Baltan is saying: Mass market vinyl stuff. (Purists wouldn't even call it "true" sofubi because they weren't made in Japan either.)

I really like the way the plastic feels, and I wish I had more of it!

As far as the limited art pieces go: I just can't afford the cash they demand. I wish I could though! Some of them are pretty cool.

I have a very limited few. There are very few sculpts that I like, and pricing is almost always no-go for me.

Dragon quest has some really affordable figs. Usually less than 20.00 each. They are not very big though, usually less than 10 inches. In any case I had to get a walking corpse figure (zombie)

The price usually keeps me from going after independent artist, though sometimes I still kick myself for missing out on Rotten Rexx.

Never got into sofubi. Some of the designs are rather nice but am not interested in the 'rarity' aspect most independents are implementing with them.

I collect randoms from time to time but usually I just help out my friends (Bwana Spoons, Gargamel, Le Merde, NerdOne, etc...) and buy from them.

So i'm in a creative process and in march i will finally purchase the material i need to cast this.It will be articulated and rotocasted in urethane resin.

There are alot of cool random figures out there. And i mean alot! There nice and all but the pricing are usually high is what I never got into buying them. Maybe I'll snag one up one day.
