I have a couple of little cousins who are way into these. One got a pack for her birthday and immediately wanted more. It's always cool to see kids getting hooked on a mini figure line. Apparently they are a hit, because they told me they had been selling out in stores.

I don't usually take a feminist perspective on things (often find any "ism" stance to be unnecessarily confrontational and biased), but am I the only one that gets mildly annoyed by gender specific toy variations like this? I mean I know some girls will just naturally want these, but since I'm assuming these are being shelved next to Trash Pack in stores I imagine this happening:

"No honey little girls aren't supposed to play with gross toys like that. Those are for boys. But look! They have some just for you; they're about shoooooppiiiiiing! There's candy, and um, beauty products, and...and more food! And look they all have cute little eyes so you know they're meant for little girls like you! Now put that other one down and stop crying..."

Yeah, that would annoy and anger the hell outta me if I witnessed that. In a perfect world there would be no "girls" and "boys" toy aisles, in my opinion. I think most kids gravitate toward toys marketed toward their gender because they've been conditioned to do so, but a girl should be able to want figures of gross garbage creatures and a boy should be able to want figures of cutesy food people, without being questioned.

I agree with both of you on the gender specific toy variations. G. I. Joe got some heat in the 60s because they branded them as dolls and fought off the stereotype. It also does not help with the super cute pink cartoons that girls get. We also get these ridiculous manly shows too. I feel like I exhale testosterone when I watch Biker Mice from Mars or Star Ship Troopers Rough Necks lol

Saw them in the Girl's section.  I don't have a problem with gender marketing as it's done to sell more stuff, not to brainwash kids.

My 5 year old is bugging me daily about these, going to grab them this afternoon.  I'm going to give in because they are minifigures and in the end, she would rather play w/ dinosaurs than anything.  They are a little over the top, but the trash pack were a little too weird for her and crashlings just didn't have enough dinos to keep her attention.
