Folks, just a quick reminder that all items for sale in Got Toys? MUST include an asking price.

You are, of course, free to negotiate on price with interested parties; however we require that you provide a guide price, in the interests of openness and transparency.

Thank you :)

Note: If you don't post prices with your ads, your post will be deleted and replaced with this:

DELETED.

You can post back up when you add prices, per the rules we have had for the last year. :D

List it in the "what its worth" thread first for some suggestions and a better idea!

Or just start an auction and whatever it ends at is what it is worth!

In this case though you could possibly not make what you want from it and might rather keep it...I know there have been times I thought about selling something and researched past listings and decided to keep it rather than let an auction run its course just because it was worth more to me keeping it than getting a few bucks for it. If you start an auction and it goes for a few bucks you are obligated to sell it...by maybe asking around and reasearching you can get an idead and decide to keep or sell...

Yes indeed I agree. I have had some things sell for waaaay cheaper than I saw them go for a week or month prior to me selling the same things. Very upsetting and disappointment all around.

How much you "could get" from something is different than how much something is "worth" is why I usually say to let an auction determine value.

People should ask how much they could get from something or how it has been selling lately instead of asking how much something is worth.

It would also eliminate the talk of "well, it's really worth this or that, or worth is only what you think, blah blah" talk that we see on lots of inquiries as to how much something is worth.

Some people think things are worth "X" amount and others think "Y" amount- so to just determine a definite value on it, an auctions ends would be best. In my thinking anyway....

Example of something that is up and down in "worth" is muscle's Satan Cross figure. There is no worth on it. The damned thing sells for $10 sometimes and $80 sometimes- so there's no worth on it except what it sells for each time. The value is determined by the sale. Unless it is a current running line being sold.

Just my thinking and views on that!

Rules are ever evolving here, like everywhere else. From my understanding pics are not necessarily required but considering the items and value of the items that are being sold it should be expected. From both a buyer's and seller's perspective it would be wise to have them. This way there is a much lesser chance of any disputes regarding condition of the items. You are certainly not being victimized. In fact, by asking for photos that is exactly what it is trying to prevent. People from being victimized. Personally I wouldn't spend more than $5 on anything without seeing it first, unless I knew it was brand spanking new and coming from a reputable source. I feel that it is a reasonable and honest request here.

Moderators are expected to use their discretion on sale topics wherever they feel it appropriate.

It is nothing personal. Rest assured, anyone with a very limited history on this forum who tried to sell thousands of pounds worth of items without pictures would have seen their thread locked, with a polite invitation to repost it when images were forthcoming.

Nobody is questioning your integrity as a seller, and if you feel it is too much of an imposition to attach photos to your sale thread, you are of course welcome to sell elsewhere with our very best wishes.

I'm new here, I have pics of my lot. I'm just having issues uploading the images. I also not not collect the items I have, so making set prices of each is a lot of work for 364 guys. I was just going to negotiate with the buyer. So this price requirement seems a little unfair if I understand the rules correctly.

That's how we do it here. Keeping transactions as transparent as possible from the get-go helps maintain a level of honesty that is intended to protect both sellers and buyers from getting ripped off. This is especially helpful in instances involving new members with no feedback.

Based on your various posts in old topics immediately upon registering, you seem to have no problem using the search function. You can also use that function to research prices on items that are very often sold and discussed here.

Also, there is a section specifically for getting advice on pricing items: What's It Worth?
