So, a new live-action Jungle Book movie is being made, and it's got Ben Kingsley voicing Bagheera and IDRIS F'N ELBA as Shere Khan. I'm so far beyond stoked.

Daaang I am down for pretty much anything with Idris Elba. Can't wait for the new Luther episodes.

Are you kidding?   That's fantastic!

I didn't see it at first, but it's making more sense by the second.

Yeah. They have Scarlett Johnanssen as Kaa, too. It looks like a pretty impressive cast. I hope it's closer to Kipling's book, though.

The Disney version will always be the one I identify most with.   Not sure about the woman you mentioned, I don't think I know who she is.

Then there is this, which has it's own impressive cast.

As for Disney, the 2016 version listed in the OP is a Disney remake of the cartoon.

I'm a fan of the story, so I'll check this one out either way.   Didn't they do a live action version in the 90s using real animals?

Christopher Walken as King Louie!? This sounds amazing.

I was huge into the live action with Jason Scott Lee as a kid haha. Oh jeez.

Ben Kingsley didn't sell me. The guy would take any role if he's given a sandwich, he was in Bloodrayne for pete's sake, but with the more info trickling in I might be intrigued.

Oh my god that is EPIC!!!!!

I'm not keen on Scarjo voicing Kaa though. She sounds too young and sweet for a huge serpent like that. Somoe like the lady who voiced Ursula on the Little Mermaid would have been better, IMO.

But hell, I am totally stoked for this one now!!!

Now that this trailer has come out - is anyone excited about the Andy Serkis version coming out?  I think he is not only starring in it, but directing as well!!!

I am jazzed for both. I think Serkis' is going to be more of a literal retelling of Kipling's original text, which could get dark(er than Disney will allow) at times.

I agree! I hope that the Disney releasing theirs first doesn't squelch the box office potential for the Serkis film. I'd like to see it succeed as it really sounds like a passion project for him.
