Are they now making them now out of the regular material the minifigures found in sets are made of?

I haven't opened the series 3 I grabbed. They're stocking stuffers for my kids. I have no series 1 or 2. What do you mean about different material. Please elaborate about what you're talking about. Series 1 and 2 arn't the same material as good old lego figures? Are they compatible?

Yeah, they are compatible, but the series 1 and and 2 minifigures are made of a slightly different plastic, thinner maybe, then the mini figures that they include in all of their sets. I thought they did this to keep the cost down. I believe the minifigure key chains are made of this material as well.

Nice! I am loving the guy that looks like he is in a Godzilla costume. And is that a beekeeper in the background next to Medusa?

Medusa? Looks like Cleopatra to me, and I thought the character next to her was a Roman gladiator or something along those lines.

The monster-costume guy is awesome and another must-buy. I'm so behind on these sets!

From what I can tell:

Cleopatra, Gladiator, Sherlock Holmes, Cavegirl, Royal Guard, Dwarf (yes! expanding my small Fantasy Era Dwarf army), Boxer, Lizard Costume Guy & Midget Clown.

I am looking for a couple series 1 (especially the Caveman) and have a box full of series 2 & 3 for trade/sale.

I love 'em, but Lego needs to develop a system in which the figures are TRULY random.

No beekeepers or Medusa in this thread!

We're getting a gangster, zookeeper, and a fricking Inbred! I love this set!

I thought I was mostly done with series 3, but then my brother sent me out to find two baseball players. I ended up getting 1, and a second tennis player (it would have been a shame to only own one tennis racket), and my third elf. I put the tennis player head on the elf. The elf does not appeal to me because he's an elf, rather because the armor and shield is like a new rendition of the old forestmen. Castle (2007-2009) had new blue crown knights, like the old yellow castle had, and Kingdoms (2010-11) theme has new dragons and lions, so new forestmen seems appropriate. I definitely need more deer skull shields!

Series 3 figures are buy 1 get 1 %50 off at Toys R Us this week (week of 1/13/11). So at $2.99 that should average to $2.25 each. Plus you may have the $5 OFF $25 coupon they were handing out the other week with purchase. Good chance to fill out your series 3 collection before series 4 comes out in April.

Wow, next set in April and I'm still two figures short on Series 3. Gonna have to fix that shortly.

The awesome haul I found for Series 3 at Walmart was, not surprisingly, 100% gone by the time I returned all my extra figures. The only thing sad about it is that there's never been a dedicated space for them, so I could easily miss a restock or even Series 4 if they carry it without ever knowing.

Reposting story here for posterity:

My Walmart is one of the oldest in the state, it's small, and its toy section was just recently shrunk even further, so location probably isn't going to help you. What I can tell you is that, out of the blue, they had one of those cardboard shipping case/display units sitting on an empty shelf yesterday.

Today, it was totally gone, so I freaked out thinking that the scalpers had gotten wind of this and hit HARD already, but no! They simply ditched the display and hung the baggies on some nearby pegs. I left that store with 30 tonight and, with time to use the cheat sheet and all, will go through them, and form what I need for a set.

You guys are lucky as hell to find these anywhere. Upstate NY has been impossible to get ahold of any series. TRS is the only place I have found any (2 figures). They admitted they only buy one box of each series. That box is held behind the customer service counter.

I have some custom MUSCLES, Pirates CSG, and Rage CCG I would be willing to trade for some of the series 1-4 figures.
