Man, Civil War was such utter nonsense. What a meaningless story, and ham-fisted attempt at allegory.
Marvel won't sell me another movie ticket, until they do Superior Spider-Man.

I saw a few Civil War comics and wondered what was going on? Then it was gone. Marvel lost me once it started an alternate universe twice a year.

Dark Reign, and The Siege were pretty good... But I am a Norman Osborn guy. The start of the "Heroic Age" initiative brought a whole new level of event fatigue and bullshit stunt writing, and I just can't back it. Superior Spider-Man was golden, but aside from that, I don't buy ANY Marvel titles anymore.

See, I thought Civil War really didn't accomplish anything. It was a big event with a blowoff ending, and nothing f**king changed. It literally affected nothing, aside from Goliath dying.Tony and Steve get along again, Reed Richards is not reviled by anybody... It's like Hulk is the only character that remembers how shitty they were, and he was off-planet at the time! WTF?
Secret Invasion was a crock of shit, too. At least Dark Reign gave us a year of completely different takes on books, AND The Siege not only blew off the story in a satisfying way, but there were lasting ramifications to the whole deal.
Civil War, bah. Don't even get me started on Peter Parking coming out as Spider-Man, and Marvel completely whiffing on all of the stories that they could have told about "The entire world knowing Peter Parker's secret", and the dynamic between Peter and Tony Stark afterwards (Pete's feelings of betrayal after Goliath died, Tony feeling like Parker sold him out). Civil War was well-drawn vomit residue.

lol I am another Civil war hater. I am a huge comic buff and I feel like Marvel has been dropping the ball on organized cross overs since Annihilation. I think the Spidey restart was my first real hater moment in comic history.

See, that's the thing... why are the events even necessary? Small ones that crossover a few titles, sure. Present a theme that arches through all of the books? Maybe. But a whole company wide crossover? F**k, man, the Marvel Universe USA has been decimated like fourteen times in the last ten years. New York City hasn't even been rebuilt from the last event, when they are drawing it being destroyed again.
To hell with that shit, I'll just read Invincible. At least that shit is entertaining.

Superior Spider-Man is the best thing to happen to Marvel Comics since The Siege.

It was very balls-out and in your face. I loved when he was in 2099 (and for the "#32/#33" issues). SpidOck is my favorite Marvel hero since Sleepwalker and Norman Osborn's Iron Patriot.
