Showcase #66: Kinnikuman Sofubi Collection

At one point I wanted to sell some of my Kinnikuman Sofubi but am super glad no one bought them! the Kinnikuman Sofubi are super cool and I see them as pieces of art. They are however not cheap, so if you are interested in acquiring them I would go the yahoojapan route.

I will showcase pieces of my collection and I would love to see the Sofubi collection of other LRG members!

There are some Kinnikuman Sofubi figures that I REALLY want, but yes, the price prohibits it.

I'm a fan of the Fivestar Toys line of Kinnikuman sofubi.  Here's my current collection:

I prefer the unpainted versions to the painted, because they remind me more of giant MUSCLE men from our youth...

These three were the first three I owned, but I ended up selling them and immediately regretting it. I doubt I will ever do that again... I'm kicking myself that I have Sunshine in Flesh vinyl and sold him... Oh well.

This was a custom paintjob I did on a spare RM a few years back.  An homage to Battle-Armor Skeletor.  I sold it and I wonder where it is these days.

Yeah I prefer blank vinyl in general, goes well with mini figures.

Those look awesome! I'm glad no one bought the Sofubi I was selling because I knew later down the line I would regret it. Many a times have I seen that pic of the RM custom paint job while searching on Google! I like the unpainted versions from Fivestars that are more economical right now (NSC Reborn line) for paint jobs.

Great collection, hellopike! I've also seen that photo of your Robin Mask custom in Google searches for Kinnikuman Sofubi and thought it was a real variation!

Well, I've finally gone for it and ordered my first Kinnikuman Sofubi. It will likely be my first and only, or one of a couple, because I can't drop cash on these things on a regular basis. But I saw one that I became enamored with. Once it arrives, I'll post a pic.

Please do post a pic of your Sofubi once it arrives :)

That's the Con of collecting Sofubi in general, awesome but expensive!

Occasionally you can get some good prices on used/opened Sofubi at yahoojapan and mandarake.

Five Star Toys The Ninja

One of the things I really like about the Five Star Toys Sofubi is that they are made in Japan

Wow! That is one beautiful Sofubi! The 3 tone is bad ass; Mandarake usually delivers things super fast but in general most Japanese shipping delivery methods are quick.

Thanks! I love the way it looks like he's swirling out of the water.

I tend to prefer the more bizarre color schemes in Sofubi. I actually have (too many) Godzilla Sofubi figures, and my favorites tend not to be the "correctly" colored figures, but the ones where Godzilla is electric blue with purple highlights and zombie eyes, etc. lol

Those Geronimo figures are awesome. Great sculpt. Does he glow brightly? I have a glow in the dark King Ghidorah that you can practically read by. :-D

The Geronimo glows bright but not so much you can read; its more of a slight nightlight kinda bright :)
