I know for a fact that the reason I collect Gormiti is that from the moment I first saw a two-pack I instantly flashbacked to when I used to get Battle Beasts at Toys R Us as a kid. The first Gormiti pack I think I laid eyes on was Hammer the Predator and Goad the Elusive. Perhaps this is exactly the pack that would convince a long time Battle Beasts Fan to pop for Gormiti. I was interested in hearing opinions from Battle Beasts and Gormiti fans why they decided either to collect Gormiti or not to collect them. I feel strongly that they are cousin toylines if not brothers. Although Gormiti lack the limited arm articulation & weapons their BB counterparts had I think the division into the elemental tribes closely matches the rub-sign alliances; Fire, Wood, Water = Volcano, Forest, Sea (plus the bonus of Air and Earth). Also the not knowing the foot number is similar to not knowing which rub-sign you were going to get. I also think that appendages like Lethal Whip's vine whip arm are similar to the weapon hands some BB had.

I had been looking for a modern Battle Beasts surrogate toy line for the last few years, and I'm happy I didn't have to settle for WWE Micro Aggression. However if I had MUSCLE's as a kid I probably would have gotten the wrestling toys. I find it funny that when I played with my BB as a kid I had them pro-wrestle in a box-top, complete with little paper championship belts, with the rub-sign reveal as a final blow maneuver. I find it cool that Gormiti face off against each other in knock out rounds.

i can see where you draw the similarities. i've also thought that they reminded me of each other. gormiti more inspired by rather than related to battle beasts though. if you really want to see how closely they can be related just look to triple threat snake and moray from series 2us.

I can understand Gormiti evoking memories of Battle Beast . I know i definitely felt that vibe from them like the majority of others here. After owning them and enjoying them for some time though i realized that , outside of a relative few, Gormiti were great figures to go along side of Battle Beast (like an expansion set if you will) but due to their lack of futuristic armor theyd never be the "main attraction". That and the lack of arm articulation (or any).

Not that id want to see Gormiti in armor.

Battle Beast have so much potential that has been untapped where as Gormiti, even though i like them , seemed like they have hit their potential ceiling . I dont know if another incarnation of the Gormiti figures is due t hit any time soon but thats my opinion on whats been released thus far.

With all of that said though..Gheos kicks extreme ass. Spymagicians articulated Gormiti are some of the best toys ive seen in some time. If they were on the shelf available for purchase id have snapped them up instantly ahead of any other modern day offerings.

Divide & conquer works because of attachments people make to push-button issues, individual "leaders," parties, clans, tribes, policies, or agendas, leaving them open to manipulation.

I think it's high time for 2 new video/pc-games:

Battlebeasts I: Chaos on Planet Beast!

and Gormiti: Spirits of Nature unleashed!

Now THAT would be something which could BOOST interest in both lines tremendously,
nowadays maybe even more than a cartoon, if well executed...

Greetz, DK, who totally agrees with the similarities between Battlebeasts and Gormiti,
and as a concept, yes even Pokémon!

As luck would have it, I finally found my old Battle Beasts today! I can definitely see some inspiration from BB in the Gormiti line, the influences seem especially marked in the People of the Sea, although maybe that's just because so many of the Battle Beasts were aquatic creatures.

And of course, as LW alludes to, the arm/weapon fusion is very similar:

Gormiti are certainly the heirs apparent to the Battle Beasts' crown, although I wonder why they haven't been released in Japan yet.

I think they would need to do a Gormiti manga first, or they wouldn't sell squat over there... :D

Rough idea for playing with Battle Beasts VS. Gormiti:

Forest, Sea, and Volcano act as equivalents of Wood, Water, and Fire, so play these by Battle Beasts rules.
For Air or Earth Tribe vs. Battle Beasts, add the digits of the Battle Beast character # together and compare to # on bottom of Gormiti foot, highest # wins. Or perhaps roll a die for each character, high number trumps low number.

Any takers?

Or do we need to publish some Battle Info cards.

I would love some Battle Info cards to integrate my BB collection with my son's Gormiti's.

The numbers are there for a very weak game. They range from 1 to 9. I don't think any numbers are rarer than any others.

I don't believe I have any 1's, but I know that I have several 9's.
If I can remember I'll take a quick survey & see how the stats break down..
