Well, with the recent G.I. Joe nostalgia, it's only natural that we are seeing some of the MOVIE CHARACTERS being redone. Although Golobulus, Nemesis Enforcer, and Pythona are going to have to wait their turn, Jinx, the "bad-luck" girl ninja who could only fight when blindfolded has made the cut. whereas in her original appearance Jinx resembled nothing so much as an asian girl in red pajamas, her new figure has a definite redesign... but has kept the blindfold. as for the other figure, I know that I should recognize Slice, but I don't. Sorry.
Also, forgive any capitalization errors - my shift key is dying.

Sculpt:

Jinx: I really like Jinx's sculpt. It's an example of how sometimes a total redesign can be a good thing. Her old figure was in total ninja garb, and apparently forgot her blindfold. This is funny, since she only wore the ninja hood in one scene. The new figure is a complete redesign, with a ninja-like outfit that does NOT look like red pajamas. The style also has a slight military influence, which makes her look like a good GI Joe - you know, that style. Her sculpted-in skirt does interfere with her articulation a little bit, which makes ninja-kicking impossible, but that's forgiveable. Overall, I like the basic figure design, and the attention that was given to details like her face. Note that she also has realistic human female proportions, unlike, say, the recent Lady Jaye figure.

Cobra Slice: Maybe it's just me, but I don't think that slice looks very much like a ninja. He really resembles a typical cobra "arctic trooper" a lot more. Sure, he has leg-guards and a ninja headband peeking out from the back of his hood, but the guy just doesn't look right to me somehow. It would seem more appropriate to give him guns than a sword. That, and his sword looks more Arabian than Japanese.

Paint Job:

Jinx: Jinx's paint job is good, but I noticed a few mis-apps here and there, particularly on her forehead. However, her face is actually pretty well-ainted.

Slice: slice has a good paint job, it just seems a little funky to me.

Articulation;

Both figures have typical Joe articulation, except for the fact that Slice has that demented action feature that Duke also came with. this makes him less poseable, and thus less of a ninja than he could be.

Accessories:

Jinx: since the accessories are color-coded, this makes it easier to differentiate between who gets what. Jinx comes with her blindfold, a gun, two swords, a sheath, and a dagger. The sheath fits on her back and the dagger can be plugged into her hip. the blindfold also functions as a cool headband, which is good since I doubt that anyone wants her firing that gun with her eyes closed.

Slice: Slice comes with a giant sword, two daggers, and a dippy wrist communicator thing. The sword is actually kind of cool.

Pricing: at $5, these toys are a good deal.

GOtGM (1-10): 3. GI Joes, as a general rule, aren't that bad.

Overall: 3.9. while Jinx is a good figure, Slice has some serious issues. It's not a bad set, though.

Oh, and in their spare time Jinx is a finance accountant and Slice is a pro wrestler.

Jinx is my new favorite female Joe. I like the fact that you can remove her blindfold. Cobra Slice however, just like the new Duke, Storm Shadow, and Kamakura, sucks beyond anything. The fact that you can't really pose some of the potentially cool looking figures, really depreciates the value of some of these figures.(For me at least) I'm really not sure what they were thinking when they decided to change these to include action features. I think the articulation that the original Joe's had was the original appeal for me. Another figure that I have a problem with is the new wave's Cobra Crusher(I think that's his name) Who instead of regular poseable arms, has bendy type arms. The problem with this is that they don't really bend that well. They should have just made him like any other Joe, because he is a really cool looking figure, but the bendy arms suck. The fact that he comes with a little snake buddy totally saves this figure. ^_^

They've had bendy joes before - Lobotomaxx, Carcass, and Golobulus.

Anyway, the main reason for action features is probably to attract some new kids - this is why all the ninjas get them.

I know, it's always about the kiddies, :woot: I'm just saying that I was really disappointed, especially with the Storm Shadow figure, he looks so cool, but can't really pose for shizznit. :woot:

I currently have four joes without an O-ring. The Duke that came with Hawk and Headman is the best of them, Kamakura is the least-poseable but his action feature is somewhat useful, and Duke is the worst. I can get over Slice.

But Jinx is awesome. she was annoying in the cartoon, though. Lady Jaye was better... and when they actually make a good-looking Baroness figure, inform me. They haven't yet,

The newest Baroness is ok,IMO it's a lot better than the older versions. The remake one that comes with the comic book w/cobra comander and the cobra soldier really sucks, her arse is huge, and her glasses cover her whole face. I'd say she looks more like a librarian than anything else.

BTW I think the best Duke is the one that comes with the Spy Troops vhs tape with Snake Eyes and Cobra Commander.
