i was going thru a storage box and i found the first MUSCLE related art that i ever did.
I did this in 1985 or 86 - I'm not sure which. It's done in ball-point pen and some kind of paint.

found one more of the same character. This one is dated 1987.
......no color on this one though. hmmmmm 1987 would make me 15 years old
when i drew this one.

it would be cool to add color to this one in photoshop!
( if i ever find the time )

well, i dont have any MUSCLE art e+
I don't have much time to draw anymore (or the motivation, for that matter).
I did take out the trusty old pencil last year and scetched a character from
a Godzilla movie......just a pencil scetch, no color. I'm a bit rusty though
...well, here see for yourself;

The last one looks great.

Sooner or later you might get the motivation to mess around with drawing. Do oyu happen to do some work where your artwork is involved? Just asking because sometimes if you doing something similiar at work it can take the fun out of the hobby.

yeah, i know what you mean. I've been at this job for 7 years now (graphic artist), and although i dont draw with a pencil, i do have to be creative at times. Somehow, there is little joy in forced creativity
I find that when i'm off of work, i dont WANT to do any artwork. For years i avoided doing any kind of job in the art field for that very reason - i was afraid to loose my passion for art. After working fast food and construction jobs though, i decided to go ahead and try to do something with my artistic abilities to earn a living. I don't really regret my decision, but i do feel saddened by the fact that i no longer enjoy doing my artwork as much as i once did. Looking thru my old work was kind of cool though :) .......made me feel nostalgic (sp?) and made me want to get back into it.

Nice drawing! :p

That is soooooooo cool that you could find old art of yours! All my old art before, crap even during college is almost all gone. I wish I had not given it all away. :stupid: That was really good for 15. I wonder what my stuff when I was different ages looked like. I had terrible art teachers when I was a kid (even through high school) so I had to learn from books and other art students. Shoot that is how I learned to mold make and cast plastics. A fellow professional sculptor mentored me in a 2 day crash course. The rest trial and error, not to mention lots of experimentation. I wish I new more about computer desgin and graphic design though. That is an area that never ceases to amaze me.
Anyway, I hope you post more of your old art!

I have to say, even a short term change (looking from after winter break to end of the term) there is a huge difference in my work. I am sooo amazed how I improved without opening a damned book. Now to get a class in it and Im set. I think the modivation was me picking up a style fast which looked ok then taking it and moving onward to the anime style. Still not profesional but hell-u-va good for less than 6 mos worth of free time.

BTW goodbeast, there is a class to learn how to make what your doing. It has something to do with indus. design. When my mom was in college they had it (she went to an all art school). ALthough she didnt take it she told me she remembers them having it. Now to look into that...

Ya,
I remember in highschool taking metals class (we did some simple casting with nickel and some other common metals. I also learned how to weld in metals class. Then in college I remember making simple plaster molds in sculpture class and I used all 3 types of welding in college. I loved MIG welding the best. ARC welding was kind of tricky. I also liked using a cutting torch! You can make some cool sh*t with welding! I don't remember much more molding or casting techniques, primarily because I never had access to a jewelry class!
Drawing is fun when I am bored, however, sculpting is my favorite. The friend/professional sculptor who taught me how to cast plastics, has been helping a NECA sculptor (who lives here in KC) learn how to cast his own stuff for prototypes to send to NECA! You all should see his Hellraiser figures!!! Holy crap! They all come with these little pieces that with build a monalisk (<-SP???) from one of the last Hellraiser movies! This guy also just completed some NMBC headbobbers and stuff. I finally figured out what the professionals use to sculpt with instead of super sculpey! They use plastiline! It is like wax and like plastic. You heat it with clean burnning torches and microwave. It is kinda light olive green in color. Heck you don't even always need an armature to sculpt with it. It is pretty kewl stuff! Not much more expensive than sculpey. I am going to get some soon and try it out! Hopefully with a 100% new muscle sculpt or maybe with the last GB the FireLion!!!
Sorry, that this is getting off topic, I will stop now.
