hey all.

i recently won an auction on Ebay that included dozens of small Japanese mini-figures [keshi?]. i can't place many of the pieces, mostly purchased it because of the Mario Bros. related ones, but there's one in particular that is bugging me. it's a pale green Sphinx that looks reminiscent of the one from Mario-Land for the original Game Boy. is that what this is? i'm new to collecting [obviously] Japanese mini-figures and haven't been able to find much information on Mario-themed stuff.

thanks.

Do you have any pictures or can you copy/paste the pictures from the auction?

the top half of the Sphinx is in the top-left of the image. upside down, you can see where the back half pegs into it. the back is located on the bottom-right, under the flesh-colored winged figure.

Looks to be the same color and rubber as the spider thingy in the bottom left. Likely the same game/series then.

I don't think there's anything strange about there being a keshi of the sphinx fro Super Mario Land. That's probably exactly what it is.

Dont know much, other than they came out in the 90's, Japan Only, was sold in small boxes with candy. This set is weird cuz its not shown in the Keshi Magazine COMPLEX (COMPREX) issue August 2008. This issue is devoted to all nintendo keshi, even very rare sets. Not sure why this set was left out. :unknw:

thanks all for the info.

i haven't played Mario Land in years, but thought the Sphinx and Moai figure looked familiar. placed the spider as part of the same set, but don't remember them from the original game. the Sphinx is a really cool piece, but the other two i'm not too attached to. i'm still very new to collecting keshi/gashopan, so would be open to trades.
