Hi!

I have set up this subforum, which will automatically import new topics for ebay listings based on a particular search. It updates once per hour.

Currently, it imports listings based on this search:
Kinnikuman, "m.u.s.c.l.e.", "monster in my pocket", "bad eggz bunch", kinniku, "battle beasts", "laser beasts", exogini, cosmix, gormiti, "gpk", "garbage pail kids", "fistful of power".

All these dump into this single forum. However it can be configured pretty much any way we want.

Some ideas are:

1. Move this forum to the main page, instead of it being a subforum of Sightings. Then we would set up separate subforums for each of the basic searches. So all the Kinnikuman stuff would be in it's own section, all the BEB stuff in it's own, etc. etc.

2. Instead of using subforums, just prefix the thread titles with "Kinnikuman - " or "Battle Beasts - ", etc, instead of the current "ebay - " prefix.

So, try it out, let me know what you guys think.

The only downside I can see is that it effectively nukes the "new topics" module on the main page.

Yeah if there was a way to exempt it from listing as a new topic so I don't lose track of topics.... or a filter for the new topics to exempt it. Could be pretty cool & I see where you're going so I would say keep it!

Probably 90% of auctions it flags up will be worthless, so maybe it'd be best to stick them all in single threads (one thread for BB, one for Muscle etc) rather than starting a brand new thread for each auction?

If you keep the separate threads, I would echo the calls to remove it from "new topics" list.

Also think you should create a separate username to post the auctions with - say, LRGAuctionBot or something - otherwise you will wind up with millions of posts under your regular username, and that might get a bit confusing and unwieldy.

The general idea is a sound one though.

Yep, I was considering that. Currently I have it set to NOT increment my post counts, but seeing all those new posts by my username is annoying.

As of yet, I have been unable to keep it from showing new posts in the new topics pod. I do agree though, that with them showing up there, it seems more like spam.

I think the big plus is that each auction will have it's own thread, so those that are of worth will have associated discussions which will keep them at the top and those that don't will sink.

Keep the feedback coming, guys!

Ok, so I was able to remove it from the New Topics pod. I also created a new user RSSBot, to post the topics.

So, one forum on the main page (below Sightings), prefixed with the search type? I'll make those changes tonight from home and we'll see how that fares.

Any suggestions on what lines should be searched and posted?

1. Kinnikuman, kinniku
2. "m.u.s.c.l.e.", exogini, cosmix
3. "monster in my pocket"
4. "bad eggz bunch"
5. "battle beasts", "laser beasts"
6. gormiti
7. "garbage pail kids"
8. "fistful of power"
9. ???
10. ???

Ok, so what do you guys think now?

Main page exposure.
Separate feeds, all topics prefixed.
Updates each feed on a 2 hour basis.
Snazzy LRG related avatar for the RSSBot.

And for those of you who hate it, why?

What can be done to improve it?

And last but not least... Is this going to benefit you guys? Or is it just worthless fluff?

I have 2 BBs auctions on eBay right now, one of them has ''Battle Beasts'' on the title and it appears as a topic here. The other one has ''Battle Beast'' (without the ''s'' on the end) and it doesn't appear.

I don't know if it's the same for other toylines, too. If for example it searches for ''M.U.S.C.L.E'' only, or ''muscle'' as well etc.

So, i think that the search probably needs some flexibility on the word matching.

jkaris, instead of all "garbage pail kids" auctions, maybe make it be "garbage pail kids cheap toys" because there's A LOT of gpk auctions that get listed constantly

Holy shit there are alot of topics! Just few questions, do the FoP auctions still appear here and would it be possible to add a search to this forum? Cause i find it very hard to search for FoP aucions cause they are in the middle of the listing so none of the filters help finding these auctions.

Or if theres a way to find these easily, a way i just havent figured out would be great if you shared it. :D

Cheers!
