I dont spend as much time here as I used to, but im hitting all my romping grounds.

My mom was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and after her first dose of Chemo everything fell apart. Her immune system was was all but destroyed and she was attacked with infections throughout her body. The worst of it is Colitis and Ileus which they say cant be helped. I'm trying to gather some funds to help with the left over bills that Medicare wont cover. We are aiming on the low end as we were told the bills may be upwards of $5k-$10k. This is just the first obstacle as it is mainly trying to get her healthy enough to battle the cancer, which will be a fight in its own right.

I might work on selling some of my collection as well, so I will post items if/when that comes.

It's always rough when a loved one becomes ill. My thoughts are with you. 

 

I'd help out even if it was just to buy some of your collection. But my Mother also has cancer. I'v been giving her money out of my savings for the past two years trying to keep her out of debt.(also paying for things outside of medical bills like car maintenance etc)

 

Best thing to do is be there for her and try to stay as positive as possible. I know it's hard though.

On another note; Does your Mother only have Medicare? She doesn't have another health insurance? My Mother has one on top of Medicare. She only has to pay a total of $3,000 before the insurance covers all expenses. Which is good because the medication my Mother takes for her cancer(kidney, liver, and bone) cost $1,200 a month. Another thing is looking into medical funding. It might depend on income though.

Cancer, as I'm sure you're both well aware of, is such a terrible thing.

Lost my mom a few years back from an avalanche of health issues and complications that left her bed ridden and suffering till the end.

My thoughts prayers go out to your mother and family brother Nilla. Hope everything gets better and her strength and health are restored.

Hey dude - waiting for some deals to clear.  Probably send something your way by the end of this month.  Sorry to hear about your Mom... sending thoughts and prayers your way.

 

When you have a loved one that is ill - especially when you are the primary caretaker wether its financially or otherwise it's easy to forget to take care of your self too!  Just my wish to you is that you not only have the strength to take care of your family, but yourself as well in what I am sure is a stressful time indeed.

I do medical billing for nursing homes. if your mom is over 65 and has medicare she qualifies for a medicare part d plan, which should cover a lot of the charges. hopefully you can get her enrolled and most importantly, hopefully she gets better soon.

Just wanted to let you guys know my mom passed away this morning. She put up a good fight, but the chemo took too much of a toll on her immune system to fight the infections.

I know I'm late to the draw but really sorry to hear this man; the cancer/chemo thing is such a tough circumstance. My grandfather was diagnosed with lymphoma about a month ago, and one round of chemo almost wrecked him. He decided to forgo further treatment; I can only imagine what that's like.
