Just a heads up for our UK members that this week's Doctor Who Adventures magazine comes with a new set of 15 minifigures on the cover. There are 5 Daleks in the colours and design established in Victory of... that are hollow plastic figures cast as three parts (left and right sides and a front plate). Plastic on these feels really cheap and brittle, and my Scientist came with one of his lights snapped off straight out of the packet. The other 10 figures are single piece rubber casts, more flexible than Muscles on the thin parts but not as squishy as Mimps. Most of these come on a moulded base, but the Angels are free standing. The figures are Weeping Angel (weeping) and Weeping Angel (attacking) in light grey, Handbot in white, Judoon in dark grey, Cyberman in metallic grey, Silurian in neon green, Sontaran in dark blue, Silent in light flesh, Ood in dark flesh and Minotaur in brown. As well as my broken Dalek there are a couple of issues with my single piece figures as well. The Cyberman is either a terrible sculpt or a poor cast as the face looks very misshapen and the Siluraian seems to be miscast around the legs making her lean backwards. Also the gold colouring from the plastic tray they come on seems to have transferred onto an odd place on the figures, but that should just wash off. So not perfect by any means, but not bad for 20p a figure. I'll probably pick up a second set tomorrow to see if I get better versions of the dodgy ones and may even get some more to troop build or paint up. If these are anything like previous freebie offerings with the magazine they will probably be repeated as a freebie with future issues as well, I remember seeing the gold Dalek set loads of times.

Probably not while this week's mag is still on shelves. Little brother is still being slow about getting my card reader back to me.

-edit- So I picked up a second set yesterday and it looks like the problems with the Cyberman and Silurian are on all of them rather than being one off miscasts. A shame, but these are still some cheap and cheerful figures. Also found a picture of them in package.

Something new to hunt for! Any word on whether or not these will be headed to the US at any point?

I did a little more digging and it turns out that most of these figures have been available with the mag before, although the Minotaur and Handbot are new this time round. Having a look on ebay last night turned up a 17 Dalek set (1 Supreme, 1 Eternal and 5 each of Strategist, Scientist and Drone) and a troop builder set of Cybermen and Sontarans that have been offered previously.

I think I scored the troop builder pack with 5 Daleks, 6 Cybermen & 6 Sonatarans.

Nice. I'm curious about the condition your Cybermen arrive in. With both mine so far having messy face detailing I'm wondering if the earlier ones were any nicer and it's a case of mould deterioration. Also my second Silurian only looked like she was leaning back in package, once I'd cracked her open she was a big improvement on the first. The 2 Silent and Ood all seem to be leaning in slightly different directions so QC with these seems pretty loose.

As predicted these are being offered again with this week's issue. This time it seems to be a random offering of previous assortments packed blind with the mag in an opaque bag. I picked one up this morning (might grab a few more this week) and got the 5 Dalek/6 Cyberman/6 Sontaran pack. There seem to have been a few production runs on the figures using slightly different rubber as these Cybermen are a slightly less shiny metallic grey and the Sontarans a slightly darker blue than the last sets I picked up. Good hunting folks.

Little rubber monsters are back on the cover of Doctor Who Adventures this week. This time out it's a 20 pack of 5 Daleks (1 of each colour), 1 Minotaur, 1 of each Angel sculpt (seem to be a firmer rubber than previous offerings), 2 Silurians, 1 Judoon, 1 Ood, 2 Sontarans, 2 Cybermen, 2 Silents and 2 Handbots, so no new sculpts. Cover price this week is £2.75. I've picked up 10 copies around town today for some troop building goodness. As usual with these there's a few bad pulls and some Daleks damaged right out of the package thanks to their cheap brittle plastic but most look alright.

They're a little over an inch. I saw them in the supermarket yesterday but they looked pretty crappy if I'm honest.
