I swore I saw a recommendation somewhere here, but what do you think is the best paint for custom painting muscles? I have a ton of acrylics, but not sure that's the best choice. Thanks.

Acrylic paint is recommended for painting mini figures. I have a ton of Gamesworkshop acrylic paints.

Bigburty and a few others on here do some custom painting and would be in a better position than me to advise you matey

I think acrylic is best for the fact that if used with a primer it will stick better to the figure. Plus when used with certain techniques and practice you can create some really nice stuff. Just look at some of the guys work around here have created using acrylics. I don't have the skill for detailed paint jobs but I did do these using cheap .99 tubes of acrylic. Just simple paint apps with clear sealer from Home Depot

Premium acrylic paint from Model Masters called ACRYL is what I have found to be the best.  Even acrylic paint from Testors is okay.

Just to reiterate -- do not get enamel.  It never dries on rubber.  All you will have is a sticky mess.

Another nice thing with acrylics that you might not find with other paints is that they are water soluble and can often be removed without staining figures. They look, feel and resemble a permanent paint job but can easily be altered. It's nice if you frequently get bored of figures or are painting more desirable/uncommon figures that you may want to trade later on down the road.

The key to painting plastic is to first use a plastic friendly primer. This is quite important abecause without primer, the paint will chip off.
