First off, this game has been out for quite awhile so I know I am late to the game here.

Secondly, if you're like me and you rarely if ever buy your games at release, I strongly recommend that you pick this up. The gameplay is akin to Assassin's Creed, really. It can be kind of tedious at times, and it isn't necessarily all that challenging. Where this game shines, however, is in the Nemesis System.

I've only sunk a couple of hours into the game, but already I've had a thrilling experience with it and it apparently is only going to get better. To be frank, this game would be only a shell of what it is now without Nemesis, and another otherwise forgettable game in the LOTR universe. Thus far, I've been killed a couple of times, and the interactions with the Uruks who killed me has been awesome. (Sometimes they're confused, another Uruk was pissed that I somehow managed to live.)

The most important part of the system is that I am yet to encounter a "recycled" phrase. They react either to a previous encounter, or in regards to the current situation. As an example, I burnt one Uruk by throwing him into a campfire, and he came back pasty-white with pale white eyes, screaming that all he smells is burnt flesh now. Another Uruk called me out as a coward for riding on the back of a Caragor, (a giant cat-like predator). Better yet, you even get to do some "orc politics." I haven't made it that far in the story, (spent most of my time tormenting captains), but from what I understand you can get orcs to fight for/with you if you play your cards right. A system like this is totally unprecedented in video games and I welcome to see what it can do in the future.

Who has played it? What's your thoughts? If you haven't played it and it interests you in the slightest amount, I strongly recommend buying/borrowing a copy ASAP. You will not be disappointed with how much fun it can be.

I finished the story but sadly I think I might have lost my save file in a hard disk crash. Fun game though!

I'm interested to get to ruling over the orcs. I'm enjoying just tormenting them right now. (Ain't nothin' like jumping off the roof and "brutalizing" an orc).

Also: I've never felt "connected" to enemies like I do in this game. I can't recall any of their funky names right now, but there are two captains I specifically make time to ruin their day every time they appear on the map.

Yeah ive heard all positives on the enemy system wich biggest change over the years has been that they move slightly more than just back and forward until this came out!

Only bad thing ive heard that the map is bit too small dunno about it reall cause i felt even skyrim was okay in size cause i still spent dozens of hours playing it

It appears there is an area I can "unlock" upon completing some more of the main quest. I am unsure of how true or not that is, but the starting area is certainly small. Though without a reliable method of transportation I don't think I'd complain about it all that much. There is a fast travel system with the towers, but they're spaced out in a way that you'll still be required to do some running around.

Personally, I think that the map is about the right size for this game specifically.

yeah, the second area you unlock as part of storyline completion. it's a different environment, and roughly the size of the original area.

I agree on the size of the map though, the game isn't styled after MMO's or sub-MMO's like Skyrim, so I think it's big enough for what it's meant to accomplish.

That's fantastic news! I look forward to unlocking the new area, just for a change of scenery every once and awhile.

I just finished the tutotrial about War Chiefs or whatever they call the head honchos at the top of the pyramid. I've also interrogated some lesser orcs for info about them now too. Going to try and take them all out in one swoop when I play next.
