MIMP Points Significance

I'm rusVan, a veteran Garbage Pail Kids/Cheap Toy collector and noob MIMP collector. I've been getting into MIMP this summer since I have had the whole summer off(I'm a public art teacher) and because Cheap Toys are DEAD I remember MIMP from back in the day but thought they were lame, I was 15 when Series 1 came out. I didn't care for anything at 15 except for 1) Skateboarding 2) Girls 3) Women in that order....Anyway.....
I LOVE 35% of MIMP sculpts and REALLY dislike the rest. It's weird, they are either completely dorky and silly or really AWESOME. Basically I've bought about 300 so far this summer and sold all but 50 or so. Now that I have the sculpts sorted out and still discovering colors(and my love for), I'm down to the factor of points...
Points? WTF!!! Btw, I've searched for these answers already but have been unsuccessful...
So...are MIMP points significant AT ALL? I'm not even sure what to ask....like, Were higher point scuplts produced in smaller qualities that low point sculpts. Please help guys, and I am prepared to be ragged. Haze at will

Nice to have you on board rusVan. It's funny.. I think you've hit the nail right on the head with the 35% lame sculpt ratio. Anyway, the points were meant to be the basis for some sort of extremely basic game of 'Monster War'. Higher point value beats lower point value. In series 1 there were 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 pointers. (Over successive series the points got higher and higher. The highest guys in series 4 for example, were 100 points. It's basically the same process as monetary inflation.) The points are directly related to distribution. Lower point values = more of them. 5 pointers and the 3 lowest 10 point figures (Phantom, Mad Scientist and Ghoul) are the most common figures. These guys were all available in the small 4 packs and countless other sets and promotions. All the other figures were only available in 12-packs in set configurations.
The packaging distribution also affects the colours each figure was available in. The 5's and 10's are available in all 8 basic colours (purple, green, red, yellow and their neon equivilents). The higher ones are generally only available in 2 of the 4 original colours (with a few notable exceptions) although all figures are available in the 4 neon colours. As LaRata said however, some neon high point figures are extremely rare.
General rule is: Higher point value = lower availability and less colours
...with a few notable exceptions .

WOW, thanks for taking time out and answering that! now I just need to find out which neon high pointers are the rarest. Then, I'll be set. LOL, yeah..35%. I swear some of the MIMP I LOVE more than just about ANY toy I've ever seen!!! And then there's the other sculpts....

The points are also broken down on the Battle cards with strengths and weakness to form the overall total.

My vintage SW would break that rule.

That 35% rule could probably apply to most lines. I love MUSCLE, but if I had to push them into Love/Hate piles I would guess I only love 35%.
My vintage SW would break that rule.
Hell yeah, vintage SW easily breaks that rule. I also love all the Cheap toys Series 1 and Series 2 sculpts, with the exception of Petey and even he is alright. Funny, I've met a fellow LRG member just this week who loves Petey more than the rest. Go figure, excuse the pun.

Fair enough. My interest in MIMP stops at about series 4 so I forgot about those guys!Don't forget the MIMP Aliens- at a massive 500 points. Killed the points value really.
