Back in the early 90s my brothers and I used to buy these little robot/mecha figures included with some candy from a concession booth at our local lake.

They were made of a rubbery plastic and came in standard Keshi colors (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow) each came in a runner/frame and you had to cut the figure from the runner and assemble the parts into a mecha.

I remember four or five separate designs but the most distinctive one was a four legged tank. It looked like a regular tank, with turret, but instead of treads it had four stilt like legs.

I vaguely recall those. Can't picture what the name was, but I'm sure ericnilla or baltan will know it off the top of their heads.

I sincerely hope so. They were fun, and I'd like to acquire a few.

The modular bits could be swapped out on some of the figures, but the best thing to do was get several in the same style and create several multicolored versions of the same style.

I'll have to look into this, but it doesn't seem very familiar to me. how many pieces meet up each tank?

About seven.

Legsx4, turret, upper tank body, lower tank body.

They weren't all tanks, some were regular mecha.

Legs x2, arms x2, lower torso, upper torso

The tank was designed VERY similar to this, but the model I am talking about was Keshi sized, and straight legged.

There are a lot of robot toylines in japan that were released like that. Multi-piece robots with Semi-articulation.

I see you posted in that thread with the Dougram keshi, are those the exact ones you are thinking of, or just the style?

My brother emailed me a link to another thread on this very site that identified them.

They were mecha from the Anime Dougram!

You guys really do know everything.

I am truly impressed that your knowledge of Japanese toys is so far reaching. I never would've gotten that information from any other US toy site.

I am so glad to be a member of this community, even when I don't pop by for a while, I'm always welcomed back like a friend. It means a lot to me.

They are the exact ones!

I have posted on this subject in the past. A years long search for the answer has come to an end. Now begins a years long search to actually acquire them!
