If someone refuses to accept payment using goods and services though PayPal, what would you do?
If you offer to pay whatever fees are involved, what would you do then?

Seconding what Baltan said. Offering to pay the fee is about the only concession any person could reasonably be expected to do, and even that might be against the PP terms. (not sure anymore, I think it used to be)
If they are really being a jerk about it, you could consider reporting them to PP for abusing the Friends & Family rules. I wish more marketplace groups and forums would ban the explicit use of F&F, it has become the accepted practice in way too many places. I don't love giving PP money, but demanding F&F totally strips the buyer of any rights.
Thank you

If it's a member of this LRG board in good standing, I think paying via friends or family is fine, but if they have little-to-no feedback, I'd steer clear...

Allot of scamming and the turds are catching on with desirable figures. Unless i know them or they have a good reputation I'd 100% stay clear. I've seen way too many people scammed these days. If they do not accept G and S they have something to hide.
Always Looking for Battle Beasts PM if you got extras!!!!

If they are someone I have dealt with before and have a relationship with... I'd rather save them the money. SO I have no issue with friends and family. However, if it's a new time relationship, then I think you went the right route by offering to pay additional fees. If they still refuse after you attempting to pay them extra, then I wouldn't mess with it. To be pragmatic, they may not be trying to do something nefarious... they may just not be trusting you to sabotage things on your end w/ PayPal. None the less, not worth the risk.

You have to protect your hard earned cash as if you dont no one else will.
Sometimes we see these rare/special figures & want them at all costs but that is not rational behaviour.
If in doubt then pull out!
I can almost guarantee that there will be another chance in the future for you to obtain one of these & who knows maybe for a better price but even if not then hey it's not the end of the world.
It's just a hobby collecting & its suppose to be for fun not for greed so my advice would be to pull the plug & dont sweat it.
Of course its inevitably your call in what you do so good luck, lifes all about making decisions....

Kind of a late response, however friends and family doesn't have any protection against item not recieved or described. Only use friends and family for people you personally know and trust very well. Plus if Paypal finds out your ducking fees by sending payments thru friends and family they will permanently ban your account for violating terms of service.

It really, really depends. When I was active selling I simply refused to ever accept any payment that wasn't sent as a paypal gift or a money order. Look at it this way: if you buy a toy at a toy show, do you get to change your mind and demand your money back from the seller after you walk away? You do not.
Not everyone agrees with my way of doing business. But I always preferred to build up a reputation via trading (where both parties assume mutual risk) and was able to show future potential buyers I was trust worthy, and then to sell on my terms. In the end, that saved both buyer and seller fees and it saved me, the seller, potential headache of nitpicky buyers.
If you decide that this person asking you to send payment as a gift is not 100% trustworthy, I'd skip the transaction. However, if he/she is someone with a great reputation by feedback you can read on various toy forums, I see no reason to not be ok with a gift transfer.
