Hey guys. This little fig was a choice of prizes that I won at a piano recital when I was 9. I saw that fig in the jar and had to wait 2 grueling weeks before I had the chance to snag him? What little boy COULDN'T imagine all the adventures that character like that wouldn't go on? Surprisingly, nobody took him and I claimed victory.

However, the figure was stolen by my brother who then lost it in a game of Pogs. Later, I saw the figurine on the field held by some jerk and most of the paint had been rubbed off and I became disillusioned of it all. Why I still didn't pursue it is a mystery to me.

For some reason, after finishing my bachelor's, I have this huge urge to find this figure again.

If anyone has any guess, I'd hugely appreciate it! I do, however, realize the insanity of this request!

Yellow hood, Red coat, Golden Sword, Black boots -- Anyone?

First of all, thank you for allowing us to become part of this epic and important quest of yours. Unfortunately I have never seen that figure. But I can assure you I will keep an eye out for it the rest of my days. If ever I find it, you will be the first to know!

The style looks like it might be from the 'Great Adventures' line from Fisher Price.

Our glorious Milky Way is a tiny, infinitesimal speck of sand in this vast, incomprehensible universe. And somewhere in that Milky Way is our own solar system, less than one billionth of that speck of sand that is the Milky Way. And then there is our planet Earth, one hundred trillionth of that one billionth of that one speck of sand. And on this planet Earth there is DEV-0, an insignificant blemish with a lifespan too short to measure when placed in infinite time.

And you are here, with them, as so many specks of sand.

OMG! SOLVED!

So, I had won another similar figure a few months later. It was a pirate. (second pic)

On the bottom of the foot yielded SOMA and China 11.

BAM! Searching Soma figures and I get the following from a South African eBay equivalent. Contact with the guy says that it was a consignment option and no longer available. (first pic)

So, then I hit up eBay. I snapped up two BIN auctions both including the same little rubber guy. (3rd and 4th pic)

Oddly enough, that's the pirate I have standing right in front of the golden sword man. Now if it is supposed to be Robin Hood then maybe the character is Will Scarlet?

So one quest is over and another begins! I have two of these guys coming in the mail but that doesn't mean I'm not interested in buying any of the ones that any of the members on the board have! I'd buy your golden sword men and any of your soma Robin Hood or Pirate figs that you'd like to sell! I have FOPS and other toys to trade as well!

Apologies to the ops in advance but I'm going to stick an ad in the need toys section.

Thanks a lot everyone!

EDIT: I think I'm going to be this guy for Halloween!

EDIT 2: I'm still interested in any and all information that anyone has on these Robin Hood or Pirate Soma figures or if there are any other themed sets in a similar Soma vein. Thanks again!

Wow that was fast, I had a suspicion it was from the soma robin hood series. Well good job on solving your own mystery.

Yeah, I guess I got lucky by owning that pirate. Also lucky because the pirate had Soma written on his foot.

Otherwise, I bet this would be a different saga. Thanks for the comment!

I at first look thought you drew the figure and added a cutout of someone's face(perhaps your father) to the drawing. LOL

Cool way to rekindle your lost toy quest!

Very Nice!

There's also a SOMA wrestler series, though they're in more of a 'deformed' style.

This comment was meant to be in Morgan Freeman's voice I'm assuming? It's certainly how I heard it in my mind...I think I have seen shawshank redemption too many times.....your childhood picture reminds me of a drawing I did of Warduke from AD&D when I was little...it's great to love a toy so much that you draw pictures of it in tribute!
