Here's a couple to get things started.

Good idea! Love me some animation, and never seen those two before...

Here's some of my lesser-known favourites:

You should be able to just post the regular URL. The forum will automatically do the rest.

Gertie the Dinosaur, by Winsor McCay (also creator behind Little Nemo in Slumberland)

Interesting fact, McCay hand animated the entire thing, including the backgrounds frame-by-frame. The technique where they would paint backgrounds and use transparency for figures and motion hadn't been discovered yet.

Hadn't seen that Gertie animation before, that's pretty nuts. I'm not much of a Disney fan, but this one from the 30's has always been pretty impressive to me. The hallway animation @1:34 always felt way ahead of it's time (looks almost CG), and there's some pretty dark themes in this one for a Mickey cartoon.

That is awesome. The Fleischer brothers used to always mess with motion/changing perspectives in shot.

On a side note, even more impressive is how they did such WHILE making sure the footsteps of the principle characters match the beat of the soundtrack.

My favorite:

Fire And Ice - though its rotoscoped anything Frank Frazetta touched turned to gold imho:

I also really really dug the illustrators who also did the Rankin/Bass Hobbit/LOTR animated films
