This is something Ive wanted to make for quite a while and finally got around to it. Trying to stick to the cartoonish Madballs stylized look, with the bulging eye and asymmetry. More as it progresses!

Not really, that was just the only way to sculpt them and have it still be easy to cast, I tried an open mouth with little teeth sticking out and it just didnt work. They have long thin teeth, so this is how I had to do it with a closed mouth. Honestly Im still not happy with the teeth and will probably resculot them at least one more time before finalizing it.

This was how I was trying before but having tiny teeth sticking out wouldnt work for casting it in resin.

I like the look of the plastic eyes, but won't they just come out smooth on a casting?

Or will they be cast with plastic eyes, like the original has?

The pupils are lightly carved into the surface, so they will be there as an outline for painting. It would be really difficult to make the eyes a separate piece. You can kind of see it in the first photo.

I figured that would be a pain in the arse, that's why I asked.
I see the outline, now that you pointed it out.

Really nice work on this, man.
I really like the expression that sculpting the face asymmetrically has given it.

Thanks, I wasnt sure it would work out or look weird. All Madballs had those over exaggerated expressions and I wanted to try getting a least a little of that in this without it ending up not looking like a Krite.

Trying to decide if I wanna add the bottoms of his feet in the back to help it stand up straight when its sat on a flat surface, and to make the back more interesting. Regarding castings, I may try using some flexi-foam and see if it has the same consistency as original Madballs and how well it works with paint, otherwise they will be solid resin.

Dude! That is so awesome!! What are the chances of getting it cast in the rubber foam like Nerf/Mad Balls?

I love critters. Was just watching one of the flicks last weekend. Very cool project.

I would suggest putting the bottoms of the feet in a similar spot to where i put the feet on mine version but you should just add the bottoms and not whole feet. That way it could stand but would still retain the shape of a ball overall. I've done several madballish things at this point and people are always asking me if the balls can stand up on their own when they are thinking of buying one. That's why i made claw stand for the oozeball and my newest ball stands all on it's own.

Thanks man, yeah I didnt plan on having the feet really stick out or anything, just be back there as undersides and to give it some stability.

I made the teeth a little more gnarly.

Hopefully very soon, Ill be molding it in the next week or so and then doing resin prototypes first. Then Ill be experimenting with squishy foam to replicate a real madball.

Once Im closer to casting I'll have an idea on price. The resin ones will probably cost more than foam since it will use much more material, but resin has to come first as it's the material I am most familiar with and have readily on hand. The foam may not even work, I havent messed with it yet.
