i effing finished something, and on time no less. well, it's not actually finished, there's a lot more detail i'm going to add, but i'm done for the day and i want to enter on time at least once.
i chose sledge hammer elephant for my disasterpiece.

i wanted to try and integrate parts of the original figure into the two characters. make it kind of like sledgy was created in a way very similar to the ninja turtles. tried out markers for the first time and i gotta say i love 'em. they're about ten times faster than color pencils and if you've got the patience they can look awesome. i'm pretty proud of this one. turned out pretty good. my scanner wasn't big enough for the 11x17 size of the paper so i had to piece it together in photoshop. please forgive the color difference if you notice it.

That turned out really cool, especially for your first run with the markers. Excellent gradients around the edges of the elephant. And good to see the tribal design idea worked out for ya, fits that ear nicely!
Are we still waiting on entries for anyone? Eric, do you want your three bundled up, entered seperately, or what? I'm going to try to get the poll up for real before the month is halfway over this time.

Is the rider based on anyone? He reminds me of someone from a futuristic movie but cannot think what. Incidently, as hater of colouring pencils, what brand of markers would you guys recommend. I like to add colour to my pictures, but pencils just drain me! And the markers i have used in the past kinda run out after a couple of strokes

i used the prismacolor markers with the dual points, fine/broad. they're so much faster than pencils and you don't end up with a wicked case of carpal tunnel afterward. just be sure to test out the marker on a scrap piece of paper or a rough draft because the labels do not match the actual ink color.
the entry deadlines have always been pretty flexible. most of us slackers usually need an extra day or two. these are meant to be fun. if we start being douches about the deadline it's going to take away from all of the fun.

Yep. Within reason i see no cause to be set in stone about the dates. It also makes a difference with someone like Reccoom, who you KNOW is going to enter and definitely has an entry in progress. It's worth waiting to see it finished. I'd discourage trying to jump in out of nowhere with an entry a few days after the deadline though, personally.
