He doesn't have any identifications on him (except 59 written in pen on the base) and after searching online, I can't see any duplicates

Yeah, that looks about right. I might customize it, so I'm glad it's not rare or really wanted.

I'm pretty sure it's the same as the old school army men figures. They also made cowboys and indians.
They seem to have made them in different colors. I found this image by googling "army men toy astronaut". There are plenty of pictures of them.
