Been sculpting a few figures for a while. Still trying to learn this crap haha. Today I picked up some primer to see how these guys are looking. Still a long way off from finished for sure. All of these guys are characters from a little fantasy story I am working on. Inspired by SNES/Genesis era RPGs and fantasy novels like Wheel of Time and the Shanara series. Eventually there will be a bit of comic pages and paintings to go along with all of them. Also quite a few more characters to get out there.

The little hero character. Still unnamed as of now. He is my Link/Frodo essentially.
lilhero.jpg

A barbarian gnome named Beo. this figure is actually not anywhere near scale with the other characters as he is the size of a bird. I will be sculpting his dwarf friend and an in-scale version will be on his shoulder.
barbaragnome.jpg

Living Candle. Pretty boring guy, they are neutral. The hero character befriends one.
livingcandle.jpg

Beast Monger! Wild savages in random wooded/mountainous regions. This is a greater beastmonger(special MOB). I have minor beastmonger(trash MOB) and beastmonger chief(area boss) in my sketchbook.
The face is a bit messed up, the figure fell off the table in my backyard while drying and he got dirt in his face. Also just to be clear, no eyes have been sculpted yet;)
beastmonger.jpg

A Volco. Random Volcano monsters that creep around mountain sides.
volcano.jpg
volcano2.jpg

Not part of my story but I have been inspired by the M.U.S.C.L.E. kit-bashing going on. I present to you The Tuber of Terror. You can also call him Terrible Tuber if you want.

Beo is awesome. I like all your stuff actually but that's my new favorite. I fail so bad at capturing that cartoony feel you seem you have mastered. The way you carve hair as though it was 2D like a painting or sketch is so damn cool.

And i really dig your version of the candle. Looks much more organic.

Love this stuff! The fantasy theme and overall feel of the figures reminds me of Neclos Fortress.

Thanks man! That is one of the big struggles I am having with sculpting. Getting it to look at feel like the stuff I draw/paint. Glad to hear it is somewhat noticeable!

Your stuff is always fun and full of life, Jared!

Thank you! I try to keep stuff fun and crazy!

Thank you! More is on the way!

That I do! I have heard a few lurk around this here forum somewhere...

There's nothing I see here I don't like. And that says a lot for me.

That is awesome to hear! Brownnoize is pretty inspiring. I should have contacted you guys when I lived in Lowell.

Love this stuff! The fantasy theme and overall feel of the figures reminds me of Neclos Fortress.

Yessir, Neclos Fortress and Villgust have been big inspirations to push these characters to mini figures. Also toying with the idea of lil cards with drawings of the characters and various items from their world just like Neclos!

Here is a group shot to show the variety in sizes so far. Little hero due is under 1.5inch and top of gnome hat is under 2.5inches.

Cat Mummy! He is a mummy made of cats. Trying to sculpt a pile of cats is a bit complicated. Probably like dealing with a actual pile of cats.
Posted Image
The sketch so you can see the cats haha.
Posted Image

Volcano dude is a smaller more simple version of this entry for a video game contest. Contest was to design a monster for an MMO and have it put into the game.
Posted Image
These are the rest of the monster designs.
water monster
death monster
earth monster
life monster

And here is my OMFG entry other than Living Candle. I wont be sculpting her just yet. She will be a bit more complicated I think. I will most likely work on her once I get a bit better at working with wax.

You've got some really great designs there--if you haven't already done so, you should submit some of them to OMFG.

I like Living Candle, Beo, and Beast Monger the best out of the group, but the others aren't bad either; great work!

Puke Knight made it into Series 2 and I have been regularly submitting Living Candle and the monster lady.

Been working on this piece of crap.

Thanks. A lady would be nice in the line up, even better if mine can make it in there haha. Don't think she did so well last go round.

Really digging your work brother!

Awesome to hear! I dig your work, sir! Maybe one day a few of these guys will occupy shelf space along side your awesome figures.

Well here he is pretty much done with sculpting. Just need to fill a few gaps here and there and prime him up. need to make a run for new primer so I thought I would show him now as it might take a few days before I can run to Home Depot/Lowes. he is a bit rough looking I know, but that is me sanding/scraping after his last coat of primer to clean up somethings.

Need to find someone to do the casting. A bit out of my ability though.

Here is a lil preview of the next figure!

Found a dead ox beetle in the yard the other day.

beet1.jpg

I took his shell off and he will live on as a piece of art!
beet2.jpg

Thinking of doing these two ideas. Although my beetle knight might be too much like Beetom from Neclos Fortress.
beeties.png

Beetom
beetomcardfigure.jpg

Maybe beetle knight needs to go through the design process one more time.

Oh you fellas flatter me! :air_kiss:

Meatcutta78 - I do need to start getting this stuff out to you guys. I am quite terrible to keep all these guys piled up on my nightstand, I know! I am working on it. I just get to distracted with sculpting and painting.

Metalmonkey - I shall keep it up sir! I have a long way to go to be good at sculpting.

The little beetle dudes have been started up in armature. The wasteland hero got some nice big pecks, muscley thighs and beautiful butt all sculpted up tonight!

If you guys like seeing the sketches I can start throwing up all the crap that is in my sketchbook. i just thought most people want to see the 3D! That's the main attraction yeah?

I don't mind, but the way it is now with pics of more finished pieces flows really great. Adding your concepts and stuff might break up the flow somewhat. Still, that's how Puke Knight came to light! So I say do whatever you want to buddy. :)
