I appreciate the feedback regarding the price of the War Monster. The reason I have priced it as such was because about 7 months

ago, i sold a gator war monster without the sticker for around $70. I also very rarely see them pop up for sale.

Also, i'm not in any rush to sell the figure, and wouldnt even mind keeping it. I just thought if i can get around that price,

it can help out with some upcoming bills i have.

Thanks,

The bobcat is the least valuable of the bunch. The lack of posts on a board of people who collect these things should be an indication for you.

Im with Puerto on this. Thanks but no thanks and best of luck to you.

I was trying to find some recent sale listings for War Monsters as a way to find comparable pricing.
(On ebay, forums, etc)
I wasn't able to find any. If anyone knows of any, that would definitely help.

Thanks,

$50 shipped is a fair price. If you're in no rush to sell it give it a couple weeks at that price and you'll get it. I've never seen a War Monster with sticker sell for under $45 on eBay unless counting the few that have slipped by predominantly unnoticed mixed in with lots of other figures, especially one in good shape. Agreed that the Bobcat seems to be the most prevalent and therefore least desirable but if you're not in a hurry it will sell. Or just throw it on eBay with a $0.99 opening bid and I would be shocked if it didn't make it to $50 given it's condition.

I know in the past, the Godbeast sold a MOC set for $600. But that was a long time ago. So that amounts to $100 a piece, but they were MOC of course. So take away the packaging (-$20), the weapon (-$20) and that it isn't untouched ($-20), and you get like $40 or so. That's how I figure it. But yeah if you sold one for $70 in the past, taking $40 is a step back. I'd guessestimate they are in the $50 range in general.

I've never seen a War Monster with sticker sell for under $45 on eBay

Someone tipped me off to the snake and bull complete (sticker & weapon) on eCrater for $20 each last year; I considered that to be a pretty lucky find :)

FANtom, do you know if there are images of those figures MOC? I don't believe I've ever seen the packaging for the War Monsters.

Speaking to those prices though, from reading old threads on the boards (back when these were "discovered") I recall there was a lot of hype inflation on these guys in the beginning (like the Russian and Greek bootlegs when they were discovered) that eventually settled down.

I agree that you could likely get $50 for the Bobcat on eBay, maybe a little more.

I have the bull in mint with sticker that I paid $15 for.

That's after shipping.

The grossly inflated market for these is disgusting.

While I get that you got an amazing deal on one of these once, price is determined by supply and demand and your thought that they are grossly overpriced has no grounding in reality. Not understanding economics does not exempt one from being bound by its mechanics :p

I'll share my experiences with these little fellas as they are pretty awesome and I try to monitor how much they typically go for..

A while back I picked up 3 of them in two different auctions by the same seller.  Both auctions had random BB parts, weapons (14 of them), playset pieces, and other misc.. toys.  One of the auctions had the Bobcat (with a missing arm) and the unicorn mixed in the lot.  The other had the bat.  I paid $83 & $63 respectively.  I though this was a steal as I wound up flipping the weapons for around $60 and the misc. parts for like another $15 or something.  I recently sold the armless Bobcat to a local member for $40.  In the end I like to feel that I spent roughly $30 for two very good condition War Monsters. =D

I can't recall ever seeing these guys sell for any amount UNDER $50 each (although I have only been a collector for a mere 2 years).  To me at least, this makes complete sense given their rarity and the presumable high demand they've acquired.  So jughead, I think your asking price for $64 shipped seems quite reasonable especially given the good condition the figure seems to be in.

Also, when I first started collecting I recall seeing the Gator with a custom-looking chrome arm???!! go for something over $100.. guess sometimes it's just about timing and reaching the right person.  Good luck to you man.

All that being said, I'm a bit strapped for cash but I can offer you an unopened fondue set for the figure if you're interested ;-)

I split out the valuation discussion for a couple reasons.

1. The discussion really belongs in it's own thread.

2. If you are not keen on someone's pricing, best bet is to not buy their item or if you are legitimately trying to help, PM them and explain to them that their price is not realistic. Posting in their thread that the price is too high is usually a bad idea and generally seen as rude.

That being said, I don't think anyone here was trying to be rude, but in most of the previous incidents, that ends up being the case. Either way, no need to clutter up his original thread with a long discussion about how much War Monsters should be worth.
