Thank you for your email. I am glad to hear you are a fan of Ultimate Muscle. There is an Ultimate Muscle DVD scheduled to release later this year. Unfortunately, I do not have any specific dates, but please continue to check www.funimation.com for the latest news and updates.
Could this be what we've been hoping for? Will we finally see more DVDs and/or a DVD box set? I know I should take a wait and see approch, but dammit, I want *OFFICAL* DVDs, not bootlegs with subtitles written by someone who is high on drugs!
However, please note that there is no specific date yet. That could change, but damn, this is GREAT NEWS!
And to those nameless fans who b*tch about Funi not replying, they won't pay attention to stupid badly-written rants. Being nice goes far.

<rabid fangirl translation> If this is true, it'd be around the fall I bet. Since 4Kids is replaying some of the series, it'd ba a good way to get people into it. And if this is true, it would also be the final brick into me making a Funimation shrine of love.</rabid fangirl translation>

But this is quite shocking. Besides having an UM box-set (there is no offical annoucement YET), I would love a DVD set along with Cardcaptor Sakura. Funi has recently aqquired the rights to it, so hopefully I see some DVDs of that soon. Not the sh*tty Nelvana "dub" (I use the word 'dub' loosely) that amazingly still shows up in some HMV stores.
Yes, I know UM and CCS are unrelated, but Chibibee will know what I'm talking about when I say this: We Canadians ruin anime alot, it seems. =( (but those crappy toy animes don't count) <FYI: This doesn't count toward the former series, that being UM.>

And the voices aren't that bad. For a dub, 4kids did a good job (GASP) on capturing their personallities well.

Season 2 US: Eps 52-77
Season 1 JP: Eps 1-26
Season 2 JP: Eps 27-51
Season 3 JP: Eps 52-?? (I think they stopped airing it before the end of the series.)
Nisei was out in Japan and pretty much bombed there. 4Kids imported it and instead of giving us the regular 26 episode season, they ran 2 episodes every Saturday for a while and we got both Japanese seasons in one season. The show did so well here, that they went back to Toei and commissioned 26 more episodes. So episodes 52-77 were shown here first. The series ended here and Toei decided to redub the US episodes and show them in Japan, where it again bombed.

does anyone remember how far the series got on fox box. i dont know if i can say this but i used to record it w/o commercials and i have up to the point where scarface beats terry kid. i dont really like some of the voices and the opening song is so lame "these bad boys from outer space here to terrorize the human race"
Actually, "They're Bad Boys from Outer Space (UL-TI-MATE Mus-SCLE!) Here to Bodyslam the Human Race! (UL-Ti-MATE Mus-SCLE!) Wrestlers race to our defence with stregnth and speed and... Flatulance? (Ul-Ti-Mate MUS-cle! Ul-Ti-Mate MUS-cle!)."
I personally LOVED the theme song.
They changed a few things to things that just didn't make sense, like the infamous 'broken hip' of Minch, but overall it was STILL very entertaining.
And you are here, with them, as so many specks of sand.

...but what the hell does it say?
EDIT: In all serious, the 80's rock theme is pretty cool, though the "DUNT DUNT DUNT, DUNT-DUNT!" beat of "Ul-Ti-Mate MUS-scle" hooks me like a mackrel.

Amen, brother!! Although... what with their "wishy-washy integrity" as I like to call it, there's not much of a guarantee that Funi would do a better job...
Sorry, but what do you mean exactly about their "wishy-washy integrity"? Also, I think that it is definitely guaranteed that Funimation would do a far better job than 4kids. The original music would be left intact and the dialogue would be a lot more true to the original so we wouldn't get a whole bunch of stupid puns. Furthermore, in terms of voice direction and casting, it's not even a contest. Funimation undoubtedly has the superior voice cast and I'm sure that they would put the voice actors to excellent use in Ultimate Muscle. No offense, but making 4kids comparable to Funimation in terms of quality is really silly. Anyone can see that Funimation is the better company.

I should've worded that better though, I meant to say "there's no guarantee that Funi would do that much of a better job"... they didn't keep the original music to DBZ until a few years after they finished dubbing it, and One Piece is already off to a rocky start with Chris "almost never knows the right voice to use" Sabat as Zoro...
Funi has what it takes to be a great anime dubbing company, if they'd only A.) choose whether or not they care about preserving the original dialogue or if they want to make it seem like they created the show, and B.) stopped hiring Chris Sabat and Chuck Huber... that's all my opinion though, based on watching countless Funi-licensed series in both english and Japanese...

The statement you made about their voice casting decisions being disappointing 90% of the time is really just your opinion though. I'll admit that I also don't like some of their voice casting decisions, *cough*freeza*cough*, but as of lately I have found many of their casting directions to be excellent. So far I am finding their One Piece dub to be absolutely amazing and I would even go so far as to say that some of the character's voices are better than their Japanese counterparts. The dialogue in One Piece also really adheres to the original, so I don't have any complaints.
I take it you don't like Chris Sabat as a voice actor do you?

Yes, I'm really in to voice actors, and I think, although he has talent, Chris Sabat completely lacks the ability to tell which character should have which voice, which is almost as important in voice acting as range is.
