If I had to pick one word to describe myself it would be collector.  I collect, always have and always will.  The OCD driven compulsion is buried deep in my DNA. This is not limited to my love of LRG or Legos or toys in general.

I was curious to see who else on here is the same and what, outside of toys, do you collect?  I mean seriously collect.  Not dabble.  Full blown whacked out collect.

Here is my list.

1) ballpoint pens

2) books - one type in particular

3) insects - beetles predominantly (I am a biologist by trade so it kind of came along with the gig at first).

4) coins - this has faded in recent years due to the volatility but I still have my fair share

5) brewery pint glasses - try to get at least one any new state, any vacation or business trip.

So how about you?

:D

Cool! I have come very close to diving into pocket knives.  But it was hard for me to learn enough based on my initial diggings around. It is something I might fall into one day though.

I used to be big into coins. I wouldn't buy them, but I had a bag that when I found a new one I would toss it in there. I haven't actually done it in years though. I realized I was just saving something I was never going to do anything with.

Same goes for Steam games:

https://steamdb.info...27407675/?cc=ca

Sweet titty-effing christ I've blown a shit ton of money on there. (Most of those games I'll never even play.) My Steam purchases have been almost non-existent for 2016 since realizing this though. It wasn't making sense to buy new games, even at a buck, if I wasn't going to play them. My only saving grace is that PC is my main gaming platform and has been for 6 years. But again, I'm essentially just collecting the damn things.

(I OWN THE TOTAL WAR SERIES? I DIDN'T KNOW THAT. Goodbye weekend.)

My wife says I collect shelves. We are in a small apartment, (about to change in Novemher. Hur-fuggin-rah!), and so to get my actual collection of toys out, I've had to put up shelves. Every time I see a cheap one somewhere, ($5, give or take), BOOM that thing is bought and put up on the wall. It's a little tacky but we don't really care. It's what makes our home feel like home, and we've actually received a lot of compliments from non-toy collectors.

I collect

Fantasy Pewter

Erotic Matchbooks

Fantasy pewter is so cool.

I was tempted on vintage matchbooks a few times, but held my ground.

Anyone else?  Figured there would be a greater breadth of non-toy related collectors on here.

I collect Japanese folklore themed items like netsuke and such, which ends up bleeding into the toy collection a bit as Kaiyodo has put out some really amazing netsuke-ish yokai capsule figures. Here's one of the shelves, there are some fossils and petrified wood mixed in there as well. The wooden blocks are old candy molds. The shelf below this one has a lot more Tanuki ceramic. A lot of this stuff I picked up while visiting in Japan; the folding fan was owned by a kamikaze pilot.

xYdFBhh.jpg

I also collect vinyl, mostly 80's new wave (and then, mostly Duran Duran and Talking Heads)

Since moving to the PNW I've started collecting bottle-caps from local breweries and turning them into fridge magnets.

the bong collecting is cracking me up! Hahahaha....

really it's more impressive than anything considering how often they break haha

MUSCLEs are what brought me to LRG but to be honest, LRGs are a very small portion of my collecting world.

Toys I collect outside of MUSCLE:

1. Transformers - G1 and on. Not much from the "Beast era". I am also deep in to 3rd party.

2. Robots in general - Mostly Japanese stuff like super robots (Grandizer, Gaiking etc.) and mecha (Macross etc.)

3. Giant Monsters - Godzilla, Gamera, Ultraman

4. Lego - Classic Space is my jam, but I also dabble in minifigures and for some reason I can never pass up a Lego helicopter set when one is released.

Toys I would collect if I had money left after buying the latest 3rd Party Transformer:

1. Starcom

2. M.A.S.K.

Non-Toy Collections:

1. Screen-Printed glass soda bottles

2. Classic coin-operated arcade games - Maybe it's an exaggeration to say I have a collection, but I own Ms. Pac-Man and Moon Patrol machines. There are a few more I'd like to add.

3. Movie posters/Posters - Again, not a hardcore collector, but I do have some cool stuff (that I don't have room to hang anywhere)

4. Unpaid student loans - I have a huge collection of student loan debt that just keeps getting bigger!

Thank you

Amen to that. Moon Patrol has the funkiest bass groove of any classic video game I'm aware of.

After I first saw "King of Kong" I decided I would try to get on the record list for my MP game. I practiced every day for a while with the goal of reaching at least #7. After a while I got busy and stopped playing. When I came back a year or two later and tried to get back into it, the record scores had increased ten-fold! I still play the game, but that goal went out the window.

Larry! I would love to see your 3P stuff!

And I would love to show them to you. I am working on it. I am in the end stages of an 18-month long project to convert an unfinished attic into an epic toy cave. I have finished building some custom furniture and now it's down to arranging and distributing the toys.

It's a never-ending project, but once I can get the shelves I built arranged and filled with robots, I plan to start a "my collection" thread.

Your Terrorcons are kind of mocking me. Most of the 3P stuff I have is combiners. It was a struggle, but I decided to skip the Terrorcons because even though I have the G1, they weren't my top priority. Those guys look sooo good, but I am already in so deep...

Thank you

They're a great set. I'll admit they have a small handful of issues, but they're mostly a fantastic group. I don't regret my purchases at all.

At the very least, you have to get Troll. He's the shining star of the entire set. I'll throw up some more pictures of him later. (He was also my first-ever 3P. You always remember your first! ;))

1. Screen-Printed glass soda bottles

Old vintage ones or like the modern craft ones too?  My favorite soda when I was in high school was Sundrop & RC Cola - both which we got refilled in the old glass screen printed bottles. Great memories.

4. Unpaid student loans - I have a huge collection of student loan debt that just keeps getting bigger!

Hah! I collect these too! Although mine are FINALLY starting to dwindle down.

Bachamn - I really like your Japanese collection - it looks great as displayed.  Nice and balanced, diverse and interesting. VERY cool.  I also have a pretty good collection of the craft beer bottle tops.  Although I only ever made magnets out out of the run of the mill stuff - got a full set of Heineken ones we made somewhere.  I am holding on to my cool craft ones until I get a good display idea.

I really only collect one thing at a time. I'v collected marbles, Toybiz and McFarlane action figures, Marvel comics, comic cards, Yu Gi Oh TCG cards, movies, CDs, and even decoration dragons from the Franklin Mint. And now mini figures.

I still have a few boxes of comics and a few binders of comic cards. Most of my Franklin Mint dragons are broken.(so frail) And of course I have my small collection of movies and music.

Collecting has always been apart of my life.

Anything really. I don't have a specific focus, I'll pick up old bottles I like at antique shops, yard sales or flea markets but I'm also happy to grab new ones at supermarkets etc.

Thank you

I am a big scotch fan, but I don't collect it anyplace but my stomach! I used to drink scotch almost exclusively but now I trend mostly towards IPA.

I still love comics, used to collect, but now I just pick some up here and there online to read a complete storyline, then sell them back and get a new one.  Most recently I have done several Kickstarter campaigns and find that enjoyable.  I guess those are really graphic novels though.

I have most of my grandmother's elephant collection. She has some pretty cool ones.

Also watches ! I use my watches on a regular basis. They are a lot more than a collector's item...they are a regular part of my wardrobe, like my shirts.Tend toward the affordable ($1000 and less, usually much less  http://jonsguide.org/best-top-watches-under-1000-reviews/), though I do have a few Omegas that are worth more. I also have too many watches, and that seems to be the one common thread in my collecting. I like Seiko and Orient, and especially vintage Seikos. To me, they are great values.
