The new imaginext is out and has some very interesting characters. Looks like a nod to Muscle Man and Buffalo Man in muscle flesh as well as a snake battle beast and Microman guy, amongst other. I don't but retail toys, but I'll probably buy some of these.

LOL Is this some kind of 80´s throwback release of them or something.

I´m unknown with these but it´s clear where some of the inspiration came from, the Snake is obvious to me ;)

Anyone able to tell me what these are normally sold for in the shop, assuming the Ebay (opened blind bag) prices are adjusted?

And how long do these Series normally last like do they run for a set amount of time or just until they run out?

The series seem to be coming out faster and faster. I don't know of any specific time-frame they're run for, but the line is constantly being updated. (These aren't the first Imaginext homages either.)

I believe they're normally around $2.99 in the US markets.

Thanks for the insights Draz!

Looks like the distribution of them is a bit slow indeed because so far they seem to have only turned up at a ¨few¨ Target stores but I assume that´s a matter of time.

Big question I have is does the black square that this figure has actually work like a rubsign and reveal something or is that a bit to hopeful for a $2.99 figure in todays world!? Damn the eighties were awesome...

So far I understood that they´re pretty randomly showing up in only ¨some¨ Wallmarts so it seems you´ve to be pretty lucky to bump into them for now.

Not really sure what´s the thought behind that but the Imaginext Series don´t seem to be released and distributed in a very organized way because some have had only several series but a not a follow up of releases which is a bit weird to me. Maybe someone can clarify what´s the ¨marketing¨ thought behind that because I´d imagine that once you launch a line that´s based on and runs over various Series it´s wise to get some continuation going instead of the chaotic approach that seems to be going on at the moment. It´d be tough to built a solid following/fan base based on that!?

Anyways back to the figure itself because I learned the black square it has is just a black square so no hopes of any rubsign like reveal trick showing a symbol, it´s just there for the looks. Arms and legs are articulated which is not in line with the BB line ;)

And even though the Imaginext releases are blind bags there seems to be a number stamped into the top of each bag that DOES reveal the content so those who´re looking for the Snake will have to go for the bags with the number 58 stamped into them. For the MUSCLE fans out here the bag with 55 seems to hold the Muscle figure.

Here are the so called Codes (the number stamped into the packaging) for them;

Biohazard dude #53

X-ray man and dog #54

MUSCLE Men #55

Fish head Robot #56
Avatar Centaur #57

BB Snake #58

So based on this and if I understand correctly you get BOTH MUSCLE men in one package, correct?

This probably makes up for the fact the other figures come with items or are composed out of more complex parts.

Looking forward to get my hands on a couple of Snakes since it´s a nice homage/gesture to the original BB line.

Wish we´d have seen this more often, who knows more BB Imaginext might follow.

Enjoy!

They don’t all have to be referencing something specific. I think this set just so happens to have a bunch of recognizable on-point 80s toy references.

Correct. And they are non-articulated, glossy, bendy rubber. Similar to the Kinkeshi Re-issues from the 90's.

The fish headed robot reminds me of "Minion" from the Will Ferrell movie Megamind
