prototypes of a line that will never see the light of day.. pretty sure they were from DST not sure what or why they did not happen was before my time here but lurking back in the forums this is what I come to find out..

geeze... talk about driving in the right direction, then suddenly turning around and driving in the wrong direction and having to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting a deer and crashing over the guard rail before burning to death.

lol, dont get me wrong I am still pretty stoked about the DST minimates line but I agree these would of been so much more but I think there was some sort of legal mumbo jumbo that made it all go away.

They were DST, those were the first proto's that they ever put on display. Posted some pics of them on here a while back, no idea where the thread is though.
As for why they didn't get put into production, not sure. After their first showing, they just vanished. No word on why. After that the minimates versions cropped up and took off from there.

Those were in fact another attempt to do BB. The first one has always been Minimates like and the first proto was the yellow gator that should have come with the laboratory playset. I think that those were canceled due to bad feedback about them after the show.

Ah, he is right, the yellow gator was the first proto. Forgot it was given away as a promo and within a set... not sure why I forgot about that, that design has kind of grown on me.

EDIT: If anyone might have one of the promo gators for sale, any color, wouldn't mind working something out

I am really still excited for what they have in store for the Series 1 preview at SDCC this yr. Zik was kinda a shock to the system but I still love the promo gators and pretty happy with the vorin's other than the weapons on them are all bent and wont go flat for me.

We've had those cool prototype figs from DST that resulted in the Promo Gators that were thrown into the crowd and now we've the Vorin and Zik............ Not really the way to succes in my opinion, when the outcome would've been inverted we might have had the idea they were in the right direction going somewhere but the way they've take now has nothing to do with BB anymore.

We showed those two years ago, when we were just trying stuff out. Not the direction we ultimately wanted to take the line. Went with a more serious, more play-centric approach. We'll see how tough the guardrails are.

I am still stoked about SDCC, I will be refreshing all day to see pics of Series 1 since I cant go :/ and yes Zach that means u need to hook me up with a biz card :|

I wasn't too hot on the gorilla but I was looking forward to picking up the others, especially the rhino. Its too bad they pulled the plug on these in favor of the minimates. Oh well...

That seems to be the concensus. Have you not been following along?

Not sure what dwarf you're talking about, though. Bliss is the main human character, and her little brother is Tate. Wasn't sure how people would respond to them, given this forum's opinions on Earth in general, but the reviewers mostly seem to like them, and the window they provide into the action. I think they were necessary to make the story accessible to a wider audience. Check out the comic, seriously.
