Has anyone ever put there muscle men in a dishwasher to give them a good clean without damaging them?

Some of mine are a bit grubby and thought it may be quicker than scrubbing them all individually? There not too dirty just need a rinse.

Depending on how dirty and what type of grime that has accumulated over the years it mght work. Obviously you would need to put them in a screen basket or one of the ones already in there. I would also recommend putting them on the top shelf. You might also consider turning off the "dry cycle" if possible to prevent any damage/warping (this is when the air heats up really hot to dry the dishes). You could always give it a test run with one or two of your doubles. Only real risk might be damaging your dishwasher, which I realise is kind of a big deal. To further prevent this you might want to put something under the basket in case it melts. You could probably try a washing machine with some towels... Might be a bit less risky of a proposition... I want to stick one in a microwave e+ Years ago a few buddies and I had a "test" microwave in which we stuck about anything in it (not to be recommended or promoted as it is dangerous/unhealthy and terrible for the environment, we were young and dumber). Light bulbs were cool as they would flicker a bunch before burning out. Metal objects, particularly foil was pretty sweet too. The light would shoot across from corners/wrinkles like lightening. Some plastics and rubbers were pretty rad as well (the end poduct, hence the want to make a Muscle man). We had a 20 foot long or so rope attached to the handle so we could pull the door open from a distance when shit got really crazy. That was a long tangent. Anyway, you might be best off with the ole tried and true method of hand scrubbing.

I wouldn't try it again. Your best bet is dish soap and a toothbrush for general cleaning, and a soak for really dirty figures.

Use I scented "Dawn". It the soap they use to clean ocean birds, etc after an oil spill. They are gleaming afterwards. I would use Dawn.

I meant- use unscented, not I scented.

One time i put a bunch of dirty smoke stained muscles in a garment bag. it's like a net satchel. and put them in the washing machine, boiled some water. enough to cover the satchel , and some soap. let them sit for a half hour. then ran the washing machine on hot. and alot of them came clean. they still stunk like smoke. and a few of them were really warped.

If i did it again i would get them out before all the spin cycles.

I'm guessing the dishwasher would work pretty good. but it gets really hot in mine. they might warp.

if you do try it. keep us posted

You can pour boiling water on top of MUSCLEs without them melting so I wouldn't worry about that. I've read on the forums people saying they have used the dish washer before, but I think really if you want to get them clean you'll need to soak/scrub them. If they still smell after that, do another soak in boiling water with a capful of bleach before scrubbing again. Electric toothbrushes work great for this.

Any time I have applied fire to a M.U.S.C.L.E., it effectively cleaned away a decent percentage of it's mass.

i put a handful of dirty MUSCLE Things in my bathroom sink and use some dish soap and shampoo and hydrogen peroxide and get that mix going with boiling water (let cool for ten minutes or warping will occur) from the kettle.  swish around with a wooden spoon.  then i let them soak for twenty minutes.  then i finally take a toothbrush and get to scrubbing.  even come out smelling nicey new!

I have a huge pile with pen marks, has anyone tried goo gone?  Not sure what the acidic citrus would do to them.

As far as I've ever seen, ink marks on old plastics/rubber don't come out. After a while, the ink leeches into the pores essentially dying the material, so substances like Goo Gone (while it probably wouldn't damage the figure) is only going to take off ink that's still on the surface.

There's a technique with a zit creme and indirect sunlight that works pretty well. I tried it on a really cool mini that had an ink stain on the face. Removed the ink no problem. Forgot to check on it and indirect turned into direct so it removed the color from that portion of the toy as well.

that's interesting...any idea what creme you used? I mean, provided you supervise it closely this could be viable option for removing ink from the bottom of MUSCLE feet. (I have two in my near-complete set that I was going to try and replace for this reason)

What is the best to soak Muscles in to get out tobbacco smell, and how long should they soak?  Biz?  Will it take out the ink?  I will try Oxy reccomendation after Biz if that is the best option.  Also because I'm scared that Oxy would hurt colored Muscles and might be for use only on flesh color?  I have a lot of colored ones with ink too.

If you leave a smokey toy alone, the smoke smell will leave without you having to do anything... unless you smoke. Then you are in a pickle :)
