Hi all

I am wondering about the figures that are supposedly produced in Mexico for
Candies Sonric's. Does anyone have packaging or evidence of this promotion?

Figures under this bracket I have noticed often have some inconsistency,
for example the way the monsters are numbered on the base. Some appear
like Matchbox others are stamped. Also sometimes there are areas that could
of done with trimming when they came out the mold. Although these minor
flaws make for a nice one off piece.

Any information would be appreciated.

Hello Man , Im a Collector of MIMP , IM from México, and i have some information about the Mexican Sonrics MIMP figurines, The Boxes of Candies really exist, i dont have one but when i was young i buy a lot of them not are a dream o a collective allucination, why any have one of those boxes ? simple , the promo was relased in the 94 one box , many candies and one figurine and if you have a little lucky one button , or mini comic or cards ,in my case only interest me the figurines i throw to the garbage the rest , many of mexcian guys do the same, The Mexciab sonrics are very real they were made with the autorization of MEG, if they are simple bootlegs why in ebay auction end at a very high price ?, One guy that work in sonrics tell me once the figurines have Three diferent moulds that the reason of some color for the same figurine have diferent copyrights , onlu exist 3 kinds of those copyrights, The same that Matchbox one but with the diference that dont have the Word China , all the sonrics MIMP was made In México, the second only one circle with the word meg a Number, and the third one two circles one with the number and another with the word meg, I have a large collection of Sonrics MIMP and only exist the Next Colors : Black, Clear, violet, pink, purple, dark purple, green , olive green, light blue, blue, dark blue, red, orange, yellow and a variation of yellow that looks like the argetian figurines. Thats why i say the mexican figurines are very real and official product.

I hope this information will be nicely used

Thank you for the reply MR. Rata

I believe that even if they were bootlegs they would fetch large prices on Ebay.
Mainly due to the fact they are produced in colours that are different to the
Matchbox release, black, dark blue etc and if you look at how bootlegs sell in
other media, music industry for example. When an artist dies the bootleg
releases also become very popular, fetching high prices. I couldn't determine
their 'official nature' on the prices they generate.

Interesting to hear the 3 different base descriptions. My main concern was with
the bases actually... I have noticed in some examples there are burn marks or
sections of rubber that have melted. I thought at first this could be the previous
owner defacing to get the figures to stand (another problem with some of the
sculpts). Otherwise this may have been an error in the molding process. Either
way the continuity of these items do make for unique one offs. Do you know
of any such marks on any of your collection?

If you know of anyone in Mexico who did save the packaging could you get them
to upload an image please. I would be most interested.

What was/is your favorite colour?

I have the best response for your answer  as you know in Mexico Sonrics Release a version of the MOnster Mountain, the guys who change this promocional collector mark of very diferent ways the figures that beacause many children of mexico are very smart and cheat :p and intent to change twice the mountain, The guys in charge to change the mountains use a permanent marker black or blue to mark in the base the figurines , some children cut the base to remove the mark and intent again change the mountain , thats because the last days of the promo they use a knife to make a hole in the figurine and thats the reason of the marks, sorry for the my english , i never took a class of english , and from matchbox my favorite color its the Dark Green , and from sonrics its the Dark Blue !!!!

I attach a Photo of my sonrics doubles !!!

PD im agree with the Music CD Bootlegs i have somes and they dont are cheap :p
