Just found this today while looking up some Predasaur information. Any of our EU members, (or anyone at all really), have any more information on these guys? I see somebody selling them by the case on eBay, but didn't see any singles. Are they available yet? Are they any more expensive than the other Predasaur lines?

I wish Predasaurs were a bigger hit in the US. I think toys like Predasaurs and SLUG Zombies could have been successful if the companies put any money into commercials. Moose seems to be the only toy company that knows you need to advertise if your toy isn't connected to a cartoon or something.

I totally agree! At least you guys saw the initial line. I checked the Targets, (while they were in Canada), every time I was in them and they never once had a single Predasaur item. Worse yet, is it seems that everybody wants a mint for the figures online.

We had blind bags, 2 packs with both figures visible, or 3 pack blind tins where one figure was always the same variant of Kabell. I think blind bags were $3.50 or $4.00, two packs around $7 or $8, and the tin was $11. Also some small playsets with a figure included that was probably around $12-$15, but they lasted until they hit clearance prices around $10 in my area.

Yeah, DNA Fusion came to TRU and Target.  The Target stock went to at least 50% off, probably 70% in some stores.  The playsets also came to a discount store called Tuesday Morning for about $5. 

 

I don't think commercials matter much these days for toys.  Sure make a commercial for Youtube and Facebook.  But then you have to send product to these Youtube unboxers.  Moose and Spin Master both do this.  It's about getting promotion from these Youtubers and creating a craze. 

 

Maybe they would have done better this year as a cheap alternative to the JW toys by Hasbro.  Who knows. 

 

I thought they were okay as a kinda cheesy impulse toy. But I tell you this much -- my six year old self would have absolutely hated them.  Haha!

 

I was only into "scientifically accurate" dinosaurs.  You know what I mean.

 

Nothing funny colored or cartoony or holding weird handcrafted close combat weapons. 

 

Man, I would have hated these.  I really, really hated dragons too. 

 

I can kinda dig it now, but man, when I was a little nerdy kid I could not stand dragon toys, anything related to dragons, or even the idea of dragons. 

 

Dragons were the worst.

I couldn't disagree with you more on this point. I don't know if you have kids, but when my kid sees a commercial for something she really wants she can't stop talking about it. This is including toys she would have otherwise never heard of. We don't typically go out to TRU, and the rest of our local stores just carry your generic, guaranteed-to-sell kind of stuff.

Kids are very persuaded by commercials. The youtubers are more for the adult crowd, or for adults looking to find reviews for their kids.

And you'd be surprised how far in the minority those adults/parents are.

 

Back on topic though, the original wave of Predasaurs was okay enough. There were a few neat figures, but the line was kind of meh... Until they started combining the dinosaurs with insects and sea like. Now THAT stuff is totally gonzo, and awesome.

I look up anything that is new to the market before I do any purchases for the kiddos, especially if the toy has a big gimmick, or relies entirely on one. Too many times have we been fooled by commercials!

I just saw some of the Aqua Attack figures and I'm totally sold on the line. The shark and ray combos in particular are extra appealing.

I am torn. I love the fire but the aqua, those look awesome. Either set would be great but blind bags at that price are too rich for my blood. I love these though. The DNA fusion and insect invasion were cool, but these are a huge upgrade.

I totally agree in every regard. There's a guy selling sets of 10 blind bags for what would probably be around $66 bucks after shipping, but even $6.60 for a figure is a bit on the higher side for me.

The blind bags only contain the micro figures, not the full size ones. They were clearanced here at 19p each a couple of years ago. After much effort, I think I eventually managed to offload most of my spares 

Then earlier this year I picked up 100 of the Insect Invasion micros off ebay. So there's about 80 duplicates of those gathering dust somewhere, and I have another 100 coming in a few weeks, because I still don't have a full set.

Has anybody here got the Tribelands Desert, Jungle and Mountain playsets? I'd like to see a pic of the completed skeleton Predasaur build-a-figure that you get from the 3 sets. Looks like a skeleton version of Vulltarex.

I thought Predasaurs were a bit neat, but crude and cheap and the silly mouths on everything was a bit off-putting. Didn't care for them being so anthropomorphic either - the concept of mixed dinosaur heritages is cool enough, I didn't understand why armor and weapons were necessary at all. Had I run into them more often, or at all since I almost never seemed to encounter them even the few times I went to Target or TRU, maybe I would've splurged on them anyway. I've bought into crappier, less interesting toylines.

 

Insect Invasion and Aqua Attack? More outlandish mixtures of creatures, cool and strange looking even if I never put the armor and weapons to use, we're on to something here! When I've got some money and I find them, I'll give the Aqua Attack two-packs a shot, but wallet needs rest in the meantime.

 

These, though? They're... just dragons. Not even cool or distinct ones. At least when you had anthropomorphic fused dinosaurs holding weapons, they looked different. That's not the kind of thing you see every day. That's cool, even if the line wasn't the most polished. What's that unique about armored dragon warriors? What happens when you fuse a prehistoric reptile with a dragon? You get... a dragon. What varieties does this line introduce? Oh wow, some have two heads! Some have four legs and two arms! WOW.

Saw four new 2-packs of Predasaurs at Family Dollar tonight. I didn't buy any today, but I might go back and at least get pictures. I didn't buy these the first time around a few years ago. These new packs were by Dracco and on rectangle shaped cardbacks. It was $5 for a 2-pack. There were 2 copies each of the 4 versions of the present. They seemd to have glow in the dark teeth, a colored translucent element to the body, like the tail, also included several weapons and stuff. They were packed in a shelf-display with the Christmas stuff.
