I've been seeing these "Testshot" figures on eBay with mismatched arms and crappy paint that the seller is asking $100 or more for them. Do people actually buy those and pay that much for them? The only use I see for them is if one of your figures is missing an arm and you needed the extra arm. I personally wouldn't even pay $10 for them. Seems like another eBay seller trying to pass off junk as something rare and valuable when it's not. Just my opinion.

I have seen these also, and was curious as to what kind of provenance the seller could provide as to these actually being test shots. People try and pass this kind of stuff off as authentic all the time. My main question when I saw these was, why would you even paint a test shot?

I saw a post on IG, some time back, where someone was excited about having picked up some rare Supernaturals test shots from a seller. Their reason for believing that the figs were test shots was that they lacked the white hands.
The gitd paint on Supernaturals figures is very rubbery, and will peel right off in one piece. How could anyone be sure of something like that being authentic? Even if they say, well I purchased these from a former employee of such and such toy manufacturer. That isn't proof.

These were all over YJP a few years back. I'm sure GJ has a write-up on them over in the Archaeology section:
