Does anyone know of any obscure articulated fantasy themed action figures under 3.75" tall? I'm aware of KRE-O's D&D stuff, Minimates Pathfinder, Hobbit/AOME/LOTR figures, Lego fantasy themed stuff, & AD&D's pvc stuff from the 80's. Any help is appreciated.

Check out this site...I know you are looking for smaller figures, but some of these vintage lines had a few smaller guys in the lots. This is by no means a thorough list, not even all the vintage action figure toy lines are represented here, but it is a start. I can't really think of any specific lines of figures like what you are asking about...most of the fantasy stuff is not articulated.

Anyways, hope this helps some.

Oh, and I know you would like these too...they are harder to find since they were cheapo toys from dollar stores, and I think were released at the start of the new millennium, but they are cool. I don't have any yet. Chap Mei and similar companies did several lines like this throughout the years; they were always pretty cool.

Dragonriders of the Styx came to mind--but maybe you're looking for figures that are even smaller than that?

Playmobil and Imaginext both have huge fantasy lines, and they are articulated.

thanks guys. i don't think anything this specific actually exists unfortunately aside from the imaginext/playmobil stuff, and they're too kid oriented for my taste. i'll probably just have to stick with inarticulated unless i come across something randomly. i've been interested in Neclos Fortress for awhile, but I don't know much about the line/pricing, etc.

I am kind of fond of the old Megabloks fantasy stuff. There are knights, dragons, orcs and wizards and such.

I see them on ebay all the time is decent sized lots.

I'm not sure if they've just been poorly taken care of, but every single one of those things I find these days has incredibly floppy limbs and sometimes broken hands/fingers.

They are definitely cool looking, but that's something to keep in mind when/if you start looking for them. Again, I am not sure if this is typical of the figures or not, just what I have seen.

Didn't The Hobbit have a 4" scale line?

What's a shame is that the Mythic Legions toyline by the Four Horsemen was originally intended to be in exactly that scale, and included all sorts of fantasy elements. Dwarves, skeletons, orcs, even dragon mounts. However, they decided to scale the line up to 6" instead once it went to Kickstarter, ditching the idea of easily building armies of fantasy action figures.

Yeah both LOTR and the Hobbit had a 3.75" line but I was hoping to find something i was unaware of in the realm of 2-3". Armies of Middle Earth is really the only thing out there I've found and they're rather expensive and not all that articulated, but you can find a reasonably priced loose lot from time to time on ebay. i'll probably dive into them at some point or another.

I couldn't agree more about Mythic Legions. I had no idea they were originally intended as a smaller scale. I found out about that project a week after the pre-orders ended, as i'm new to the whole collecting thing. so I'm hoping to snag a few figures when the extras arrive in March 2016 even though I'm not much into figures over 4"

I couldn't agree more! I'd really like to get a set of the Easterlings weapons loose some day for my Bone Age figures for a project I have in the works influenced by Robert E. Howard's Hyboria & Clark Ashton Smith's Hyperborea.

I REALLY wish someone would put out a smaller line of Hyborian Age monsters and heroes. McFarlane's stuff was cool, but too large for my taste. Or some figures based or influenced by the Dark Sun setting.

McFarlane should consider doing some smaller figure Fantasy sets... that would be pretty cool.

Though not midevil fantasy, there's the bone age figures which should run under 3".

Edit: Nevermind I just saw that you mentioned em.

Bone Age are probably some of my favorite figs ever, just wished they're knees and elbows were articulated. I wish someone would revamp that line or make something similar nowadays.

i even dig Imaginext's Cave men even though they're kiddish.

That is a fair or even great price.  Problem with these is that that their limbs are either loosey goosey, or (more common) the gloss/glaze/paint on them becomes so rigid in the joints that attempting to articulate the figures breaks them apart.  You may want to heat them a bit if you encounter stiff figures because they tend to break even without excessive pressure. In fact, a lot of times, just putting the weapon in the hand will break the hand. This is mostly a product of heat plus age, but clearly it also has to do with the paint slathered on these figures to give them that washed-out/aged look.

Edit:  Just realized that you have all ogres. So, you got an incredible deal.  The effect I am talking about has mainly to do with the knights, and not so much the ogres.  Excellent deal for all baddies and their weapons!

Thanks for the info! I had no idea this was a common issue. If I do heat them up what would be the best approach to take?

I usually just boil things apart.  Heating in an oven seems to be quicker (and more thorough if you are loosening actual glue and not just stiff paint), but usually produces a bad smell.  If you are going to boil, put some towels or fabric at the bottom of the pot and keep an eye on things.  Using a hair dryer could work too.  Boiling is gradual (so you can check them often), and you can probably do many at once.

Also, if you have to heat them to loosen the paint, go ahead and take them apart once they are loose.  Let them dry thoroughly while apart, then put them back together.  If you don't disassemble them after heating, they will just harden together again.

Hopefully, this is just an issue with the knights which have a lot of glossy paint.  I can't remember if I ever seen this issue with the orcs or ogres.

I meant to mention that these posters are not mine, but for sale here:

http://www.ebay.com/...=item1e8c1ba16c

I rotated his images and bumped the contrast and sharpened a bit, but regardless, they are impossible to read.

Maybe if you search Vorgan and Ice Vorgan, you can find some better checklists. I tell you though, it looks like you pretty much got nearly all of both factions -- and without any of those pesky knights!

Great eBay find!

yeah, the seller originally had listed 210 assorted Mega Bloks figures and weapons but I was only really interested in the Vorgans/Orcs so i shot him a message in hopes they would split up the lot. i really hate doing that typically, but it paid off. just hope i can score some Bone Age figures the same way...
