actually for the cutting you need to go fast. I tryed going slow on some parts and it works better if you speed up. I see how it slices. Great instinct man and great cuts too because you have to calculate them so you dont take too much off. I was abit stingy for the knee so i think i am gluing it back on. I should be able to post pics by sunday latest if all runs well. if not then it will be a long time till i do.

Qwaah, c'mon man, "Your 45 minute work = 2 days, 3hours and 21 minutes work for me." It really isn't that hard, however, it is not a foregiving custom. If you mess up a cut, or a dremelled joint, game over. I will try another 1 or 2 tomorrow afternoon, if time permits. I used push pins with the ball heads for the joints. They work great it your dremelled hole is drilled properly. Not to be insultive of Muscles, however, the only reason I went super fast and carefree on this Micro AF, is that I have 8 or so doubles, and I guess I thought that if I messed one up, I would still be able to use the parts and pieces for my experiment I have planned!--------------------->The big melt down! I am going to test the realm of reality by attempting to slow melt real flesh pink muscles and pour them into molds! If all goes well, that original flesh pink Satan Cross will not be a problem and then I will be able to make all the exact figure colors using extra figures melted down into plastic goo.

When fixing/converting any figure, I swear by drywall nails......

they're small enough for that kind of work, and they have ridges along their sides to prevent 'em from being pulled out easily......

this gives a nice pivot, and with a pair of decent wirecutting pliers, you can cut the nail to the size you need with little effort......

I really think that in small parts (wrists) your dry wall nails would not work. I know this, because the space to dremell from the wrist to the center of the hand, almost came through his palm on the character I just did.

Our glorious Milky Way is a tiny, infinitesimal speck of sand in this vast, incomprehensible universe. And somewhere in that Milky Way is our own solar system, less than one billionth of that speck of sand that is the Milky Way. And then there is our planet Earth, one hundred trillionth of that one billionth of that one speck of sand. And on this planet Earth there is DEV-0, an insignificant blemish with a lifespan too short to measure when placed in infinite time.

And you are here, with them, as so many specks of sand.

i've been trying to find a 'joint' that would stand the test of time...
how do the pins you used hold up, godbeast?
i've experimented with making those, and it reall is so i can play with them...
^_^
the one you did looked great...
(honestly, i also like how you didn't try to go overboard with the articulation... sometimes that makes a figure physically weak...)

yeah, surely - too much articulation can lead to weakness, but with the articulation we've seen in the super wrestlers and even on a small scale with the minimates, it can be managed.

i just thought i'd bump this up to say that i'm making a micro a.f. out of #081. i've spent about half an hour fixin' him up, and i've got the head, the right arm and the right leg all set up. i'll probably do the left leg and left arm before the week is out, and the paint it soon after. either way, i'll let you know. i'm pretty notorious for letting custom/model projects fall behind schedule...

i'm not doing anything too technical with this one, i just cut the head, arms and legs off.

then, i cut the arms apart at the elbows and wrists, and then cut the feet off of the legs. i'm doing something similar to what was described at muscleuk.com. instead of using wire, i'm cutting lenghts off of safety pins. it's not really great, but it's working so far.

after this project, i might get more ambitious, and work in actual joints. i'm actually thinking that #064 would work well... we'll see...

The ball tip stick pins work great! I used 2 different sizes. I used the super small ones for the wrists and the normal sized ones for the rest of the joints. My joints are strong and rotate well in their sockets (vasline). You are right about going overboard. I really think I could have done without the hip sockets as the figure's sculpt was meant to have locked hips. The articulation in the hips serve no purpose. Even if I have knee articulation, I would have had to do a different type of joint for the hips and knees. I wanted this one to look more like the alterations were hidden, rather than obvious side pinned "U" joints.
Oh well, I am sooooooooooooo busy with my molds, I don't have time to mess with these right now.

Great articulation Toyman. But where is the left arm and left leg? Is this a work in progress?

yes, indeed.

i'm probably going to refine the articulation in the legs. something more like the star wars and "super powers" figures. (actually, MOST figures have the kind of articulation i'm describing... nevermind. )

Its the one which comes with teh ring. I messed up on the arm that is up and the leg on the opposite end. I tryed making knee and elbow joints but i need to glue them back on. Great thing you cant see that in teh pic. What can i do to improve on it and how do i rid of these gaps inbetween the joints? Also whats an execlent paint to use on them that doesnt rub off in play nor is expensive? I prefer you to say bad things then OOO thats good. CUz it really isnt good and i dont want fake nice i want all whats bad with it and if ooo thats good, tell me why is it good so i do that again. Damn do i demand so much.

i look forward to seeing it painting, and i hope next time you post a .jpg or a .gif.

Neat poseable Muscle Godbeast. When you devise your "Muscle mold/press" I'll donate a hundred or so pinkies for "reconstruction". ;)

As far as Joe Gibb's micro figures, a couple years back Joe was going to make one for me in exchange for some Muscle loot. I remember how he really wanted as many of the "Mr. Pliers" figure as possible. He mentioned he was working on that particular figure perfecting jointed pincer hands! Cool, eh? Anyway..

yeah, i can see where using some ball-tipped map pins, and some crazy glue would actually make good joints. i might try that here in the next week or so... what is the absolute best way to clear out a joint, if one does not have a dremel present?
