Bought this mixed lot of common MIMP (+ NP Skeleton) for a tenner this week, just to try and find out what's going on with three odd coloured figures that I spotted within the lot: Vampire, Windigo and Undine:

Attached File  image.jpeg   67.18K   83 downloads

Got home from work late last night and the package was waiting for me, so I'll have a proper look at them over the weekend, but from a quick look over and feel I'm still just as confused as when I saw them in the original pic.

More info and pics to follow

I'll wait to see additional pics, but because of the color I lean custom for Undine. Not sure about Vampire and Windigo.

I just assumed they were dyed and/or faded.

yeah I figured they were faded as well.  But lets hope you got something cool.  Looks like the vampire is also missing a foot.

They're definitely not dyed or faded, as I'd also thought that, especally for the Windigo. I'll try to get some good pics later.

Below are the pics of the 3 figures in question. I've been back and frothing with 3 other MIMP collectors and have a couple of theories about these guys, but have a close look and let me know what you think. I'll add in some notes too:

Attached File  image.jpeg   71.26K   34 downloadsAttached File  image.jpeg   66.81K   35 downloadsAttached File  image.jpeg   72.92K   24 downloadsAttached File  image.jpeg   70.53K   27 downloadsAttached File  image.jpeg   63.24K   27 downloadsAttached File  image.jpeg   68.54K   24 downloadsAttached File  image.jpeg   56.34K   16 downloadsAttached File  image.jpeg   52.31K   20 downloadsAttached File  image.jpeg   77K   23 downloadsAttached File  image.jpeg   51.1K   24 downloadsAttached File  image.jpeg   63.99K   19 downloadsAttached File  image.jpeg   57.72K   13 downloadsAttached File  image.jpeg   57.72K   13 downloadsAttached File  image.jpeg   65.21K   4 downloadsAttached File  image.jpeg   65.21K   4 downloadsAttached File  image.jpeg   66.09K   17 downloadsAttached File  image.jpeg   68.49K   8 downloads

Points to note:

- Undine & Vampire are rubber, which feels, smells and squishes like MIMP rubber
- Windigo is slightly firmer that MUSCLE material, with some bend in the extremities
- Windigo has mold lines DIFFERENT to a regular MIMP Windigo
- Look at the lines around Windigo's feet - thicker than regular Windigo in comparison shots
- Windigo feet markings are 'upside down' compared to all other Windigo's I own
- The pink one is a couple of mm taller than a regular one, particularly noticeable with the hair quiff
- The forearm hanging hairs on the pink one are sculpted slightly differently, both in shape and line details, compared to regular ones
- Vampire is GITD and the glow is identical to the Ghost glow, yet the rubber tone is a little 'greener' compared to the more milky white of a regular GITD MIMP figure
- Vampire has no points value or feet markings
- Undine is fully marked and has a points value - it is fully grey in colour, a deep rich grey, rather than painted or faded
- Undine also appears to have a slightly thicker line around its base compared to a regular Undine
- All 3 figures appeared 'play worn' when they arrived, as did the regular MIMP they came with - whatever they are, they appear to have been played with for many years by the original owner

If anyone wants to see additional pics then let me know.

Interesting lot of figures Al. I don't have any clue as to their authenticity, but nice score nonetheless.
It's a shame were at the point where there are so many customs floating around that even if something new is discovered, it's hard to know if they're legit or not.

One thing I notice about Behemoth's Argentinian Vampire is that it is slightly smaller than the MEG Vampire. I would be interested to know whether or not that is the case with the GITD vampire.

The Windigo looks like those "mysterious glossy pink" mimps that came up here and there very rarely.
Interesting mirror feet markings.

Do you have any pics or a thread link for these? These have slipped my radar and could prove useful.

I've noticed this too, but will double check later. I believe the GITD and Matchbox are a smiliar size though, but I will check again. The translucent red above definitely looks smaller than the Matchbox. Also, I can't tell if the red one has feet edge lines or not? My GITD has them.

I'm curious about the "mysterious glossy pink" MIMPs as well. This is the first time I'm seeing it mentioned.

At this stage, following much discussion about; scrutiny of and comparison of each of the three figures, this is what I believe these figures to be and why:

- Pale pink plastic Windigo: A test shot to check colour using a casting material that was to hand. This Windigo's feet edge lines do not match those of any other Matchbox Windigo I own. It also has slightly differently shaped forearm hairs and 'inverted' feet markings that again none of my Matchbox Windigos have, as well as different mold lines.

- Grey rubber Undine: Possibly a test shot to check rubber material, using a colour pigment that was to hand - hence why such a dull, unusual colour. All other aspects of the figure (besides the colour) seem to match the equivalent Matchbox Undine sculpt.

- GITD rubber Vampire: This figure confuses me the most, but possibly a test shot to check the GITD pigment required for the GITD range. The most confusing part: the figure size is identical to the Matchbox equivalent and it even has the Matchbox feet edge lines, yet it has no point value or feet markings, similar to an Argentinian Cromy version. It also has different mold injection points compared to a Matchbox Vampire.

Of course, some will think these are simply customs and I can appreciate that, but they were as 'played with' as all of the figures that they came with, that the seller said her son had owned since the 90s. How many people were casting custom MIMP and selling/giving them to children in the 90s?

Thanks for sharing, but a couple of questions:

Are these from your collection?
Are the pink ones plastic like mine, or rubber?
Do they have any usual sculpt/mold characteristics, like my Windigo does?

I'm presuming I'm looking at the top left Cerbeurs and bottom right Cockatrice - they look quite different in colour to my pink Windigo.

I had a Witch like that, I just figured it was a discoloured red. Probably a factory error of some sort.

Agreed. It looks like a red that is evenly faded or just made from a different shade of rubber. I have some like this buried in my extras.

Glad we've seen the pics so that I can check for similarities, but they do appear faded or unevenly coloured examples, especially if they're rubber.

Here's a comparison:

Yes, top left Cerberus and  bottom right Cockatrice.

Not my collection, but I remember they are rubber and are evenly glossy pinkish. I don't know about unusual molds but assume they are normal sculpts. There are quite a few out there, so me and others where wondering why so much similar pink variants are around.  I am still confused about that color variant. The color mimics that of your Windigo, but it might be different since your figure is plastic.

So who is it that own these figures? I've never seen these pics on here or anywhere else before. The Ghoul looks most similar to my Windigo in colour, but still not exactly the same.

I used to frequent that place until I got scammed there. Had some good times there too, but it was my first sour MIMP experience.
