Fkro noticed that his point values on the Mad Scientists were in different places, so I checked mine out. Sure enough, several are different:

I haven't checked all of my Scientists, but it is an interesting difference. I wonder if any other MIMP's have this difference?

Figured I'd post my pic here too. I didn't look at every single Mad Scientist I have, but from the sampling I did take out I found multiple of each variety.

I need to dig out more of mine to check. The locations appear to vary all along his back in your picture, from one side to the other.

Yeah, there seems to be two general locations--near the middle of the back and all the way to the right of the back--but then also some slight variations to each of those.

I wonder if there were other figures with this variation?

We'll have to take a look. I just randomly noticed it on the MS the other day, because I was looking at my neon red one and thought it seemed really far over to the right. For as much as I've stared at my MIMPs, I guess I haven't paid too close attention to where all their point values are, ha. The only other point values I've looked at lately are on Jotun Trolls, because of the Star Monster thread.

I noticed the Sonrics figures have point values in as many as 3 locations, but had not noticed it on the Matchbox. Makes me want to dig through them all.

The points value obviously wasn't placed in the same spot in every mold cavity of the sculpt.

Ejector pin placement varies like this on several muscle sculpts, where the ejection pins weren't placed in the same exact position in every cavity/mold that produced a certain sculpt.

This type of thing usually occurs once a second or third mold is made. They may alter certain variables to make the part either fill, or eject better than it did on the initial mold.

I don't know much about sculpting, so this is news to me. Interesting stuff.

I need to check mine tonight, but I only have the 4 neons as I've sold all of my standards and I sold all of my premiums. There might be other figures like this too.

Pretty badass discovery. I shall refer to Fkro as a French scientist from now on. Monsieur Docteur Fkro.

My understanding is MIMP figures where produced in pairs, so perhaps the companion to the Mad Scientist might have a had some alterations made as well to help with injection molding process.

All of my neons have the number up towards the right shoulder.

Interesting. I would think the letter on the bottom of the foot would have something to do with it too.  And that might make it easier to find the other figure from the pair.  Which I would suggest the winged panther then it's a low level monster and also has a cyan premium.

Edit: forgot Mummy and Charon also had cyan premiums.

I've just had a flick through a couple of figures and found that I have neon Spring-heeled Jacks with slight discrepancies in where their numbers are positioned. Not as much as the Mad Scientist, but still there. I checked my Hobgoblins too (at random), but they each have uniformal number positions.

I noticed that ten of my Mad Scientist monsters have two letters on their feet, five have c and a and the other five have c and b. I've never seen another monster with two letters.
